We are owners at the Westin Lagunamar and have visited a number of times and every visit it seems to get better. This trip the Spa was fully open which has made a great difference to the overall experience. I would like to thank Gerardo and Marcella for their hard work in making us feel relaxed after golf.

I would also like to thank Pedro, Freddy and Joaquin from the food and beverage team who always go the extra mile for us.

The only negative are the pool side sun loungers which could really do with cushions. Until the next time.

I am an American ex-pat living in Merida, Yucatan. My partner and I took the opportunity to visit Cancun last week to celebrate our birthdays (which are only 5 days apart). We booked 3 nights at the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resorts Villas and Spa.
The entire experience was exceptional. We booked by phone so that we could explore all of our options. We drove the 3 1/2 hours from Merida on Wednesday, May 7th, arriving at the hotel around 2:00. Even though check-in is at 4:00---they checked us in early since our villa was ready. Once the bellman learned where our room was--he even offered to move our car so it would be more conveniently located to our building. That was so nice.
Our room, a 1 bedroom villa, was in building 5 and featured a full on ocean view. I believe many of the marketing photos for the hotel may have been made from the balcony of our room---which was spacious, clean, modern and very comfortable.
All of our interaction with staff was outstanding. We spoke to many off the staff in English and some in Spanish. They were all pleasant, helpful and seemed genuinely glad to have us as guests.
We enjoyed service from the pool bar, the Ocean restaurant and the spa. In all cases--we were pleased. My partner had a beach front massage on his birthday and was very happy with Manuel, his masseur. Our concierge, Karla, helped with setting up appointments for the spa as well as dinner at a nearby restaurant.
We found that the beach here is very beautiful--and was nearly deserted much of the day during this week in May (there were no Mexican school holidays, etc this week).
Check in and check out were very easy and we left on Saturday morning feeling nothing buy love for the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort Villas and Spa.

We stayed there in April for Spring Break. Very beautiful. Not too crowded. Luis Angel was an amazing contact to facilitate side trips etc. Had massages at Spa--really nice and relaxing. Heraldo was excellent. My husband and I are "owners" of another Westin Property and went to the sales presentation. It was the lowest keyed we had ever attended (not that we do that often). Biggest complaint would be the food. Just mediocre. It is not an all-inclusive resort so we were so happy because we went to other locations. Don't waste your money on the Mexican night---the chips we stale and the pork tacos were not cooked enough. We ate at Oceana and my husband ordered the fresh Sea Bass. It was truly excellent. So I give them a thumbs up on that! The resort was clean and the staff very pleasant and friendly.
