What could be a nice beach hotel in Mazatlan, Mexico, is demoted to a Poor rating due to lack of security. Our two rooms had patio doors which did not lock at all! Each of our rooms on different floors had the same serious problem.
I am not interested in meeting the people in the room next door (which shares a patio area) during a burglary or worse! How dare a referral group even list this hotel as an option?
There is great front door security but the bad guys rarely come through the hotel front entrance. Kudos to the bell hops who even helped us cart groceries & large shopping bags to our rooms. The Front Desk was friendly & even tried to help me figure out my personal cell phone when it wasn’t working.
The waiters in the hotel restaurant were absolutely fabulous, friendly, observant & quick with refills of coffee & food. They, too, assisted me in trying to make a local phone call.
Morning breakfast was very good when we went early in the day but not as tasty in the last hour of the buffet. A variety of egg dishes & omelettes were available with good fresh fruit, juices & bakery items.
Great idea to have free breakfast.
I recommend the ocean view rooms as the “city view” rooms could have you looking at the air conditioner system on an unsecured patio. It is worth the few dollars more for a much nicer view of the outdoor pool & ocean.
This is my second visit to this hotel with stays of more than a few days each time. I won’t return unless security issues are addressed.
