Me and my girlfriend stayed on Mljet for one night between stays in Dubrovnik and Split. We were impressed beyond belief!! I highly recommend visiting Mjlet, as it such a peaceful, different part of Croatia than some of the other more crowded tourist spots.
This accommodation is in such a cool location, the village of Soline, with great views from the balcony as well. Ivan and his family were amazing! From transporting us to the ferry ports to letting us use extra bicycles that were available, by the end of our (only 1 night) stay, it felt as though we were staying with long time friends.
In addition, Ivan's family owns a restaurant just outside of the accommodation. The dining experience is one of the best we've ever had, and isn't an experience that could ever be found in the US. The homemade grappa (liqueur), locally caught fish from earlier in the day, and other side dishes with local ingredients were all amazing!
Many thanks to Ivan and his family for making our visit so special.
Staying in Soline is like stepping back in time (in the best possible way!) to quieter, simpler days before the crowds of tourists, the whine of traffic, and the unnecessary glitzy fripperies of life. The accommodation is simple, but immaculately clean and very comfortable – with a wonderful view across a channel and out to sea.
The bedroom is to the front, with glazed double doors offering the view and access onto the sun-filled balcony. It has a large king-sized bed and is cooled by a very effective ceiling fan (quite sufficient, and you wouldn’t want air conditioning to spoilt the perfect silence of the night). The kitchen/sitting area is to the rear (there is a plan on their website (mymljet dot com) if you need it) and has basic equipment for breakfasts and light lunches. However, if you have any particular requirements you might want to check or bring it with you (the lack of a coffee pot meant we experimented successfully with Turkish style.)
And you won’t need to cook anything elaborate, because Ivan and Martina’s restaurant is just a few steps away! We ended up eating there for all four of the nights we stayed, because it was just so good. On two nights we had lobster spaghetti and on the alternates we had grilled fish and vegetables. The fish and seafood is caught by the men (Ivan, Nikola his father, and any or all of his three sons) each day so is the freshest it can be. It is all cooked simply and deliciously to order. And mostly (if she hasn’t had to spend too much time chasing or cheering the boys) Martina has time to make a gorgeous cake for dessert, to be accompanied by one of a fine range of home-made liqueurs. We were a bit casual about worrying what things cost, but were delighted with a total bill at the end of our stay for the four meals (for two, with wine) of HRK1,300/EUR180/GBP130 – 2015)
Finally, Ivan, Martina and the boys are lovely, charming and helpful. They are happy to organize hired bikes and canoes to be magically outside your apartment whenever you want them (It’s worth noting that the hire bikes on Mljet are good quality mountain bikes for around HRK150/EUR40/GBP15 a day – 2015) and probably anything else you think you need. We were particularly grateful to Ivan for taking us to see the local doctor, twice, after a scrape from a bicycle spill.

This accommodation is placed in absolutely beautiful surroundings - at the slope of the stunning pine forest, and at the blue lagoon lake side which just turns into the clear sea.And you can see and feel and smell all of this from the apartments which are simple, but comfortable and fully equipped.
Our 4-day stay was absolutely perfect, Ivan and his family are extremely friendly and helpful and he even gave us a lift when the road was blocked.
We stayed for 5 nights in the apartment, it was basic, functional and very clean. There was a small kitchen with all utensils provided, all you need for making small meals and snacks. I believe there is Wifi connection but we didn't need or want to use it.
Ivan and his family were wonderful people who made us feel very welcome. They picked us up from, and took us back to the ferry. They organised bike and canoe hire for us and answered any and all questions we had. We were invited to catch lobster and my husband went with Ivan to catch octopus. Experiences we will never forget. The family also have a small restaurant where you can have the freshest and tastiest fish caught that very day. We believe it was the best restaurant in that area, they do not have a big menu and the quality of the food speaks for itself.
Mljet was a small piece of paradise for us and we cannot wait for the day we can go back and we will definitely be staying here!!
We loved this place - the island is stunning, and the quietest place we went to. We walked, swam, cycled and canoed, all of which were brilliant.
Martine and Ivan (& family) were great hosts, and helped us organise transport on to Korcula ( as well as pick us up when we arrived). The apartment is basic but good with lovely views. The food at their restaurant is superb, fresh fish, lobster and the best dessert I had in croatia! We would definitely recommend - thank you again.
