My boyfriend surprised me with a very romantic weekend out in this recently renovated and gorgeous ex convent. This place is different in its elegance and atmosphere and beautifully cared for in every detail with simplicity, we loved our suite on the first floor which was very romantic! Since we love to sleep and usually sleep until late what we also enjoyed was the fact that there was no deadline or timing for breakfast so we woke up late both days and had 2 days of pure relax. I suggest the experience of visiting the nearby charming villages on the first day, while the second opt for tranquility in the hot springs. If you’re thinking of a place to go special for your partner then this is it...we had an amazing romantic stay and hope to come back soon.
When my American friends come to visit me in Italy I always want to show off the beautiful country I live in. After the frenetic activity in Rome I wanted a place where we could relax immersed in beautiful surroundings. The Commenda, is exactly what I was looking for. Not too far from Rome but distant from the the city noise, traffic, and in the summer from its unbearable heat!. It is an ancient structure with all the modern comforts and a beautiful pool, its very elegant contemporary style blends perfectly with its ancient history. We visited the the magnificent Renaissance gardens which were all easily accessible and not crowded. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, the hospitality gracious, My guests told me that it was another place that made them believe that Italy was one of the most beautiful countries in the world!

I came here with my partner after spending 4 days in steamy Rome. We were lucky enough to come across this beautiful, elegant and sophisticated 15th century old property, which we highly recommend if you’re looking for something really different (this is definitely not the typical hotel or b&b you would find in most places…), there’s a unique outstanding Italian taste in everything you see here.
First you enter the property you see a very charming church with candles inside ready to be illuminated at night and a beautiful swimming pool and relaxing area in the garden right behind it. The feeling here is almost like being part of the past as for so many years this was the residence of the knights of Malta. We were also lucky to have the history of this place explained to us by the owner who was extremely kind and gave us all the space and privacy we could hope for during our stay. We absolutely loved it and we will definitely try to come back! Thank you!
WOW!!! What an amazing historical property!! This place is exactly what we were looking for, a truly stunning place to stay, so elegant, sophisticated and stylish. We spent 4 days here with my friends and we had the best time ever! We came because we wanted to see the festival of Santa Rosa in Viterbo and stay in a more peaceful and relaxing setting instead of staying in the city center so we were able to enjoy the entire weekend in this absolutely charming place! we loved it!!
We enjoyed laying with a few cocktails in this fantastic swimming pool for most of our stay (the swimming pool has just recently opened) and is set in a lovely garden, very authentic and absolutely gorgeous atmosphere. There's also some very good restaurants nearby we had the chance to go to, all suggested to us by the owners who were very kind to direct us and explain all the nice places to visit nearby. Restaurants are: Nona pappa, Pretorio and another one I don't remember the name which we went as well and was veryyy good. Another place to visit while here is lake Vico which is only 15 minutes away and worth the visit!
This is a great choice to stay and there's many wonderful places to visit nearby. My suggestion: if you don't have a car absolutely rent one! so you will be able to see all the incredible places around this fabulous place as well!
My partner organised a surprise birthday weekend for me, so we could have some quality time and relax at the bullicame hot springs in Viterbo. When we reached the Commenda, we were so pleasantly greeted by the owner who showed us around the neighbourhood. We stayed in the Alchimist room and were absolutely astouned by its beauty, comfort and luxurious decor. You can almost feel part of this place's past. We had an amazing time and can absolutely recommend it for a romantic weekend!!
