“Spacious, full of character, brilliant views and just "magic"!”
Reviewed 30 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

A wonderful relaxing experience from start to finish. Kittiwake is a warm, traditional house, full of character but with all mod cons. It is decorated and furnished in a comfortable and tasteful manner throughout. The welcoming bottle of Prosecco and jar of tea cakes was the icing on the cake!
We enjoyed beautiful walks (and some jogs) along the coastal paths to Pittenweem, Anstruther and Elie. Our young grandchildren spent their time either crab hunting on the beach, at the harbour, in the play park or back at Kittiwake eating yet another snack.
We had such a wonderful time that we are already planning our return visit.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We aim to cater for all members of a family because we know it can help to ensure a happy holiday! Kittiwake House is perfectly located to take advantage of the play park at the top of the road, the harbour at the bottom of the road, and just a short walk along the sea front to the medieval church and the ruined castle – and there’s also a windmill too! We are so pleased you had a great time together with your family and grandchildren … we would be delighted if Kittiwake becomes part of your family’s traditional holiday home from home! Wx

“Kittiwake House was a delight”

Finding reasonably priced accommodation for a family with three teenagers that is both beautiful and extremely practical can be a daunting task but Kittiwake House exceeded our needs in every way.

Wendy's attention to detail in both her interior design and the welcoming bottle of wine for the adults and biscuits for endlessly ravenous kids, was just perfect. The sun streamed through our window to wake us in the morning and from our bed we could see an expanse of calming sea beneath; it was quite idyllic.

The key safe by the front door was invaluable for us, as we could access the house the house easily when we arrived late in the evening, after a long drive from Wiltshire. We filled our three days with visits to local landmarks, such as the picturesque windmill on the shore and Elie's beach; took in visits to St Andrew's and Edinburgh universities and The Royal Yacht; celebrated my birthday and our wedding anniversary; ate far too much in the local Mayview Hotel and other local restaurants; discovered the delights of Scottish tablet in a number of ice-cream parlours and took in the Fife scenery.

Kittiwake House was the perfect base for exploring this area of Scotland and for relaxing and having fun as a family. I would recommend it to anyone, even those with mobility problems as there is a lovely double room on the ground floor.

Liked best: The sense of calm happiness we shared as a family, which must have come from our surroundings, it isn't the norm.
Liked least: Childen has troubled accessing wi-fi (I didn't lose any sleep over that). I was able to access it but it was a bit tricky, but I only needed it to look up details of our visits - no real problem.

Thank you so much for leaving such a fabulous review! We love the feeling of comfort and sense of space that Kittiwake House offers … it is hard to capture its peaceful vibe into words and therefore we love it when we can see that our guests experience it too! You had a busy few days visiting both Edinburgh and St Andrews Universities … many of our guests use the house for a holiday when visiting their children at University. It sounds as though you have created some wonderful memories whilst in St Monans, especially as it was both your birthday and wedding anniversary too. As a family we pride ourselves on our personal service and attention to detail and we are delighted you had a great time. We hope to be able to welcome you back in future if you decide to return to this beautiful part of Scotland. Wx

“A fantastic house for a fantastic break”
Reviewed 17 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

The photos on the website do not do this lovely house justice. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of this house and the standard of the accommodation was terrific. The wee touches such water by the beds and a bottle of fizz on arrival made us feel welcome. Climbing the stairs is definitely worth it when you can relax and enjoy a sea view. St monans didn't disappoint and the weather was kind and we enjoyed lots of coastal walks. We will be back!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback. We find it really helpful in ensuring we are giving guests what they are looking for in a holiday by the seaside. We are proud to know that you had a great stay with us … and we would love to welcome you back for your annual weekend with friends! The house has so much space which ensures everyone can relax without feeling cramped. We also love the coastal path to Elie, and have had many great meals at The Dreel Inn … but then again there are so many other fabulous restaurants in the East Neuk that one visit is never enough! Wx

Thank you so much for leaving this review! We would of course agree that it is a very special place and it is interesting you describe Kittiwake House as an escape, as this is something important we believe Kittiwake offers to all our guests … some precious times together away from busy routines. The coastal paths, local beaches and walks definitely help to slow the pace of life. You are also right in terms of Kittiwake being a labour of love for us. We have a passion for comfy interiors with interesting touches here and there to ensure our guests feel welcomed. It is worth keeping an eye on the dates for the East Neuk Open Studios events to be able to enjoy some great art during the summer months! We would, of course, love to welcome you back again, Wx
