Looking at some people’s reviews I was unsure what to expect, check in was quick and very professional.
Okay as others have said the door to a certain room was stiff to open , but get a life. The bed was clean , linen decent, bathroom small but again clean with a fabulous shower.
Drinks before dinner served by a team of lovely young and knowledgeable staff, food was wonderful but beware… the portions are enormous.
As we were leaving at 7 the next morning we checked out after dinner, the young lady who appeared to be in charge offered to have breakfast rolls ready for us the following morning,
Big fat hot bacon rolls unwrapped on the ferry , delicious.
Well done to an exceptional young team

We stayed one night during a touring holiday. The hotel has a great location on the seafront.

The reception area was dark and gloomy. The room was large, recently redecorated and with a new bathroom, but the main door was very difficult to open due to it rubbing on the carpet. The door to the bathroom wouldn’t close at all and some of the bathroom fittings were in the vanity unit, unfitted. When we reported this in the morning, it was clear the management knew about these issues but had not done anything about them. As a minimum, I would have expected an explanation and an apology when checking in.

The double mattress was comfortable but the left hand side was lower than the right so there was a slope in the middle!

The breakfast was adequate with a good full Scottish cooked option.

I hope the hotel can get their act together and resolve these issues

Thank you for taking the time to publish your view on your recent stay. We apologise that you found the door heavy to open this perhaps being the reason the key snapped in the lock , which we rectified as soon as we could get a locksmith to attend . The en suite door again can be very tight fitting which we have addressed previously we beleive with the heat it had swollen a little . With reference the mattress on inspection we couldnt identify and problem and beleive as its a super king bed it has a very heavy mattress and topper but certainly did not look like it dipped and guests always compliment on how comfortable the bed actually is . As you stated the ensuites have recently just been refitted our apologies there was a fitting left in the vanity unit . We beleive our rooms offer excellent facilities with little added extras , like robes, filter coffees, large flat screen tvs, newly fitted en suites luxury toiletries and hygiene supplies all for a much lesser rate than any other surrounding offerings

Went for an anniversary meal.we have been before,in fact had meal for anniversary last year which was lovely. What an absolute disappointment. Got steak asked to be cooked medium & ensure no blood. Couldn't eat chunk of it as that's what I got. But what was worse the chips were totally tasteless cheap oven ones. The side of onion rings again were obviously the same. The Runny red wine sauce was a disgrace. We would normally have had a dessert followed by coffee & couple of cocktails. But was so annoyed at poor quality just phoned a taxi. When I mentioned to waitress, she went away & came back to say manager was too busy to come & speak to us but to send in an email. I also asked for a glass of water which never arrived. It is the first time I have not left a gratuity when out for a meal. We had planned to make an appointment to enquire about booking for our Golden wedding in 2025, this certainly won't be happening.

Room tip: Don't go

It is interesting to read your review of your most recent visit and your opinion of such. We are of course disappointed you didn't enjoy your visit but are pleased that on the plates cleared from your table it would suggest you did indeed enjoy the food ? apart from the onion rings , which clearly distressed you . It is disappointing that rather than e mailing the hotel directly as suggested you took to the likes of tripadvisor to vent .

Table service but when ordering food made to pay 20 min before it arrives.Very Wetherspoons or Mcdonaldsy.Seems to only apply to customers in the terrace area.Very strange.Should maybe say order & pay at bar if you don’t trust your customers

In response to your comments yes the terrace operates differently than indoors . It is different in Many ways so is therfore operated and controlled differently a casual way which over the years has proved to be the easiest and most controlled way for both the customer and us . We apologise this wasn't to your liking if you preferred restaurant service the inside would have been the better option
