We did the 3 Peaks hike offered by Groovy Gecko tours. The tour was very well run, our guide was friendly and provided a delicious mid-hike lunch. While the scenery at Lang Bian is not the most spectacular, it was a very enjoyable day and the view from the third, and highest peak was spectacular. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Dalat, and wanting a good day outdoors.

We did a 3 peaks trek with Groovy Gecko tours and it was fantastic.
Many travellers just do the main lang bian mountain (and some just do it in jeeps) but if you have the time/fitness, I highly recommend doing a day-tour up to dinh lang biang, which is 2,167m above sea level and a moderately hard trek for someone of above average fitness (obviously it would be a lot easier if you were happy to just take your time, but we wanted to get it done before 2pm so we pushed ourselves hard)

We cycled here from the centre of Dalat. Took approx 1hr on our borrowed (free) bikes from Thien An Hotel! we then walked up the trail/road leading to the top of the mountain. After the cycle, this was tough enough but then the proper hike began... The trail split to either the peak or Radar Point. We obviously went for the peak of the mountain and proceeded to climb through the jungle trail and up the mountain. This part of the hike took approx 45mins to get up (the proceeding walk up the main road/trail took 1hr before this). So the whole walk/climb/hike took just shy of 2hrs to get up. It was very tough so if you are considering this I would highly recommend getting a chauffeur-driven jeep up the (1hr walk) road/trail and save your legs for the main trek through the jungle up to the peak! We then climbed down the mountain, back the walk we came, which was about 1hr45mins in total. Then we cycled back to Dalat! Crazy day... :-)

We took the #5 bus that stopped right outside our hotel (Thien An Hotel) at 272A Phan Dinh Phung Street. Cost us 9,000 VD. Our return was 12,000 VD, as we took it all the way to the downtown Market area. The bus stopped at the entry gate.
We walked up a fairly steep hill for a while and then took the seldom-used hiking path to the highest peak. The hike was O.K.; but we ended up bailing out about 500 meters short of the summit. By then it was clear that continuing our climb would not bring us much reward. We reversed course and headed back to the lesser peak where the jeeps go. The view from there was truly impressive. On one side, you can see distant mountain ranges, with some, I believe, in Cambodia. You look down on the highly developed Dalat area full of houses and greenhouses - with the distant ranges behind. If you walk across the parking area and look North, you see a vast undeveloped jungle area. Both views are impressive.
We are from Vermont and love to hike - especially hikes like this when there is a great reward at the peak.

Try the Lang Biang trail for a challenging trip to the top of the mountain. The trail is maintained by the national park, and they also have local interpreters, who are local villagers. Give it a try and give them a living.
