“My favorite place on the island”

Louis & Steen's New Orleans Coffeehouse
Ranked #5 of 330 Restaurants in Nassau
Certificate of Excellence
Description: Louis & Steen's, the first authentically Creole and Cajun Coffeehouse in the Bahamas, serving customized pour-over coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, cafe au laits, sweet iced fruit teas, and southern flavored frappes. Combine this with our Creole and Cajun light-fare cuisine, and you're in for a tantalizing experience. We are proudly the Bahama's first specialty coffeehouse, bringing the highest quality, freshly roasted beans from around the globe and are first to serve cold brew on tap in the islands. Our beans rank within the 95th percentile, adhering to the Specialty Coffee Association's stringent regulations. So come and enjoy our breathtaking ambiance -- a "N'awlins" styled bistro, infused with the sounds of jazz music and surrounded by tropical foliage, with a million dollar Bahamian ocean front view. Authentically New Orleans, and better in the Bahamas. See yawl soon.

Nassau has a lot of interesting spots but this family-owned and operated New Orleans café does a few things extremely well: (i) it is the perfect mix of Louisiana charm and the laid-back Caribbean vibe - be sure to sit outside and enjoy the amazing view; (ii) its staple food and coffee menu are delicious, while they constantly come up with new and innovative drinks; (ii) the family seems to make a point of trying to get to know their customers - go during the non-peak hours of the week and without fail they will strike up conversations with you and your group like you’re a regular - whether you’re a local or one-time vacationer.

For me, coffee-houses and restaurants are about the overall experience. Louis and Steens has mastered this in a way that most businesses can learn from.

Our last stop before the airport and we are sorry we didn’t stop by sooner while on the island.

The restaurant is located across from the beach and offers wonderful views of the ocean. Choose any of the brightly painted tables, enjoy your food, and listen to the waves.

The service was very friendly and quick. The food (an apple turnover and Mardi-Gras cinnamon roll) were wonderful. We paired them with a cappuccino and iced coffee.

If you are not familiar with Caribbean food prices you may find them a bit high, but are on par with other places on the island (and better than Starbucks).

Going to Louis & Steen's every day was one of the highlights of our trip. The kids even looked forward to it. Not only do they have the best coffee on the island and great sandwiches (plus lots of other things to eat and drink), but everyone there was so friendly! The decor felt fun and welcoming, too--island style but with a New Orleans vibe on top of it. Well worth the drive wherever you're staying.

Well we walked along the beach to get to this place. What a great way to go! While the meal seemed expensive, once the food came we were delighted. It was very filling. Well worth the wait. It was absolutely delicious. My husband said it was the best salad he's ever eaten. The only time he has eaten a salad where he didn't feel hungry afterwards. We both had the POh' Boy blackened chicken. He had it as a salad and I had it as a sandwich. Tomorrow we'll go back to have coffee which is supposedly what they are best known for. Thanks for a great lunch! Sitting outside looking at the ocean while enjoying your meal was an extra perk.
