This was my second stay at the Buccaneer, last year just before the hurricane and a couple weeks ago in mid-October. The resort is fully restored and has all the amenities you expect and hope for! Lunch at the beach side restaurant (the mermaid) is improved, the gazpacho soup + Myhe Myhe ;-) fish sandwich was excellent as was the vanilla ice cream. A swim in the Caribbean Sea, a lovely view from the room and off to dinner later that evening. Unfortunately the dinner was as bad as it was last year, I ordered the evening special, Wahoo with asparagus and rice. The portion was enormous, I estimate 16 ounces or larger, whoever panfried this fish did a great disservice. The cooking surface was far too hot and it caramelized crust to a thickness of breading, the interior of the fish was raw (when you overcook a fish it turns the leather). The asparagus was also overcooked, wimpy and of a pale and poor appearance. The rice was tasteless, I'll leave it at that. I could only stomach about 25% of the entire plate and had to send it back where it was wasted food. The next gamble was dessert, the crème brûlée came in three small demitasse cups, one was half filled and all had a sugary crust that took repeated blows to break through to the pudding, the puddings were runny, gritty… You get the idea.

The resort is fabulous, offers you everything you would want, breakfast is included and it's okay, lunch at the mermaid is fabulous, you may want to consider eating out for dinner.

Be aware of your surroundings and plan accordingly.

Room tip: Any room at this resort is a good room, if you want to view you'll pay through the nose

Went to the Grill and Chill night at The Mermaid beach restaurant. Right on beautiful beach facing sunset in open air seating. You pick type of meat that you want grilled, (beef, pork, lamb, chicken, seafood), and they grill it on outdoor grill just steps away. Served with your choice of seasoning and chef prepared sauces. I had Mahi with beurre blanc sauce that was hands down the best Mahi I've ever had. Excellent dinner was topped off with performance by Coral Fire, a trio of local fire dancers on the beach directly in front of our table. Awesome show and always entertaining! Must eat/see dinner and show when visiting St. Croix.

Great location, reasonable service and a fair value. Could stand a nice thorough renovation and some extensive remodeling to bring it up to 2018 standards. Overall very nice but misses the mark often on the special touches that make resort stays special.

We just stayed a week in an oceanfront room and it was great! Beautiful decor, great food, awesome beach, lush golf course and the friendliest staff. Our stay included a huge breakfast every day that was great. Restaurants are pricy but the food was good. Bring some alcohol with you for your room and rent a car so you can enjoy this amazing island. Overall a great trip.
