If you want to know what Puerto Rico is, taste what Puerto Rico was. This is where mamás y abuelas go to eat real, fresh, in-season, puertorrican food. In an island where you eat amazing almost everywhere, THIS IS THE CREAM OF THE CROP.

Our chef friend in Nashville touts this as his favorite restaurant "in the world", so how could we not try it? Because we were in San Juan such a short time, we needed to eat lunch here, rather than dinner. We made reservations, but while we were there, 2 sets of couples appeared just to walk up and had no trouble being seated. Definitely for dinner, it is reservation-only.

The service was very friendly and solicitous, but not overbearing at all. There is lots of open space in the main dining area, with tables well spaced. The sign on the window said a maximum of 30 guests.

The food was just amazing! The smoked pork was small cubes of what appeared to be pork belly on wooden skewers with a drizzle of slightly spicy tomato sauce. This was so good that my husband had another order at the end of the meal! We just had to try Pastel de ceti, and wow, was this unique and delicious. Tiny fish were served in a creole sauce that was perfectly seasoned. Tying for favorite dish were the Tuna Tataki (thick pieces of ahi tuna topped with avocado and onions in a soy based sauce) and Lick Your Plate chicken (the name says it all!). Cocktails were tasty and well priced. What an excellent meal!

Don't be deceived by the simple look of this place.

The food was super amazing with different yet matching flavors and colors.

Visiting San Juan without eating here is a big miss.
Prices are more than fair and we highly recommend this restaurant.

Don't get me wrong, the food at Joses Enrique was good but it just seemed over hyped. It seemed like the type of food you could get for less then half the price if you went to a typical Puerto Rican restaurant but you are paying more money for the ambiance of a upscale restaurant. But then again with it being upscale the guy at the table next to us had on a sun shirt and the woman at the table in front of us had on a Bathrobe and Slippers from her hotel! Over all the feeling of the restaurant is just a giant room with a small partition for the bar. We had a drink at the bar first and I actually liked the feel of the bar better then the main dining room. The server was to the point but friendly and informative. Food was decent but for the price did not blow me away. It was good and we had a nice time but would not go out of my way to recommend to someone as a must stop if going to San Juan.

Delicious food served fresh. Nice atmosphere. You can walk here if you are in Condado. In the spot of the old Ropa Veja. Churassco was on point. Beef stew was nice. Arugula salad extra tasty. Give the place a try.
