Visiting from Chicago. Perfectly located in the heart of Old San Juan. We absolutely fell in love with this place. The view to the ocean was spectacular. I've been visiting these parts of the island since I was a child and was always impressed by the historic and well maintained homes. The people are so friendly and the area is surrounded by quaint bars, restaurants and shops. Maria and Peter were most pleasant and their home was perfect for our needs. We so look forward to returning soon!
Peter is not an absentee Proprietor, but lives down stairs and always available. Of all the locations available in the old city of San Juan, this is the most accommodating and totally secure. It is located directly across from the Casa Blanca, which is the Governors residency. We actually saw his motorcade and security detail on a number of days while there. Talk about the spectacular views of the bay and incoming cruise ships and cargo freighters was simply mesmerizing. The apartment is traditional Spanish colonial. Peter, the host was a repository of interesting information and money saving tips. He and his lovely wife guided us to the best restaurants and insider watering holes where we were treated like royalty with just the mention of his name. You can say you were traveler and not a tourist because you stayed at the premier location on the best street in Old San Juan, on the Calle de Las Monjas number 7. Just like a local "San Juanero" If not happy here, you can always stay up the street at the hotel Convention for $350 a night and have no View what so ever.
The location is amazing. We totally love staying in OSJ and having a view of the bay on this visit was our best experience yet. The cruise ships gliding silently in and out mornings and evenings were a joy to see. The weather was perfect and the air conditioner in a bedroom was unused. There are great breezes that flow through from the screen covered balcony in the front bedroom, through the shared bath to a second bedroom with a window over the patio. The apartment is convenient to all of old San Juan and the grocery is not far away. Peter and Maria were great hosts. Peter even offered to have our laundry done since the washer was broken. We had everything we needed and hope to return in the future.
