A peaceful, relaxing experience from start to finish. The apartment is spotlessly clean, quiet and well equipped. It has a great pool - we were usually the only people in it! And there's a gorgeous beach a few steps away, with palm trees for shade. Bring your own beach towel with you - it's easier.
Directions to the place could be a bit better. There are 3 buildings at the Palmyra and when we arrived, it wasn't clear which one we were in. Just for reference, it's Sabal Palm - the 3rd one you come to after the security gate.
A car is a good idea as there are very few bars and shops within walking distance - although the receptionists will recommend a good taxi driver (ask for Richard, he's fab). If you want a properly Jamaican experience, there's a route taxi stop just across the road. It'll cost just J$300 to get into Mobay, if you don't mind sharing with the locals. And the truly wonderful Scotchies is a hop and skip awaty by taxi. For daily grocery shopping, avoid the local Shopping Village. It's expensive. Instead, go to the bigger supermarket at the Blue Diamond shopping centre.
If you've never been to Jamaica before, the currency can be confusing. They use a mix of Jamaican and American dollars. It's good to bring both - but you'll get a slightly better rate if you pay in Jamaican currency as they tend to round up the exchange rate. And be prepared to barter!
We'd definitely recommend this place. It's a perfect spot for relaxing, chilling out, just kicking back and enjoying the view.
Liked best:
The view from the balcony - and the great shower!
Liked least:
The air con in the bedroom could do with some attention. It's a bit leaky - drips on the floor.
