Having stayed in a nearby hotel for two weeks and dined at umbrellas on multiple occasions, I feel I can speak with some authority about this place.
In general, service is much slower in Grenada than other parts of the world we've visited and umbrellas is no different. if this is a major issue for you, then don't come to Grenada. Otherwise, just be prepared to relax and enjoy some conversation while you wait.
The food was amongst the best value for money on the island. One evening, we were lucky enough to get a seat in front of the fantastic live band. This was the best evening of our holiday and very memorable.
Yes, the waitresses will muck up your order occasionally. Yes, there is sometimes quite a queue, but somehow, none of this put us off. We loved Grenada and loved Umbrellas

This spot was highly recommended, even befoRe we landed in Grenada.
We opted to go on a Friday evening and was given no inclination that we should make reservations, as walk-ins are welcomed.

The moment we arrived, there was a line snaking around the parking lot (which is in the front of the property, so you have to constantly move away to allow cars to pass, then re-enter the line).

One of the staff stood at the front shouting "2 people?" so that groups that were larger had no chance of even getting in, since there were very few people leaving the establishment. After three children and hunger, we decided to call back the taxi driver (we wasted US $20) who took us to a container park instead.

This is extremely disappointing, especially coming from islands that have way more tourists and traffic. Either reservations should be encouraged or table dine limits put in place.

We visited Unbrellas on a few occasions as we were only staying at the Radisson which is only a short stroll along the beach! Every time we visited was great!! Best to go early (open from 11am) as very busy between 4-6pm for their happy hour so expect a wait anywhere near these times!! Staff very efficient and the food excellent - large varied menu and everything we’ve tried has been really good!! We sat upstairs which does have a lovely breeze but downstairs is also nice to sit especially if you can get near one of their floor fans!! Great atmosphere and definitely worth a visit or two!!

I hate writing bad reviews. I really do. But here we are. We walked into Umbrella’s at age 60…walked out at age 62. What in the world? To be fair it was a fairly busy day, but there was no wait and plenty of tables. We noticed that about half of the tables had no food, but it was still early lunch…we thought we were good. Nope.

We ordered nachos with chicken. I mean, how hard is that? I asked the waitress after an hour and five minutes how much longer it would be. She said she would check. I reassured her it wasn’t her fault.

30 minutes later…nachos…remember? were delivered to our table. It was two small bags of Doritos with shredded lettuce, a couple dollops of sour cream, some cheese melted to the plate, and a couple jalapeños.

I waited an hour and a half for that?! Never. Again. I mean…did the chef step out for a smoke? Or the birth of his first born?

We came to Grand Anse Beach for the day. Had no idea we were going to Umbrellas for the day!
