We were staying at La Source, we decided we would venture out for the evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Having previously been recommended by colleagues we decided to try The Aquarium.

On going down the stairs, although early we were warmly welcomed by the staff and were offered either a drink at the bar or the option of going straight to our table. As we were celebrating we decided on a drink at the bar – which is well stocked with premium brands. We had two drinks at the bar – Martini & lemonade and Tanqueray & Tonic – whilst we looked at the menu.

We both decided to go for scallops as a starter and these were expertly cooked. For mains one lobster and one seafood medley was ordered. The lobster is large, fresh and tasty and taken from the shell and placed back into half the shell. The medley included a range of shell fish and fish, again the portion was generous. You have a choice of french fries, rice or baked potato to accompany your dish – we opted for the rice.

A large wine list for a Caribbean restaurant, which had representation from both old and new world, including French, South American, South African and Australian wines, interestingly there were no New Zealand whites – which is a shame as their Sauvignon Blancs are normally a perfect match for seafood. We chose to go for the Louis Latour Chablis – not the cheapest of options.

With the large portion we decided not to go for dessert but had coffee & liqueurs. The service at all times was friendly and efficient, even to the extent that because there were no taxis outside when we came to leave the proprietor took us back to our hotel. All in all a great meal, with good service and I would recommend this restaurant to family, friends and colleagues.

The restaurant was located down the street from our resort - LaSource. I’m sure we could have walked but decided to take a taxi because it was at night. We paid $10US one way for two people.

There were several steep stairs down into the restaurant so be careful ladies if you have heels on. The décor and artwork were very eclectic. It also sits on the beach so we could hear the waves. We went on a Tuesday night and the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. As far as attire, we had on dresses/heels but other guest that night had on jeans, shorts, and flip flops.

Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. He also made solid recommendations – smoked duck breast salad, seafood soup (the portion could be a complete meal), fried shrimp, and mango passion drink. I ordered the grilled mahi-mahi and chocolate mousse; they were decent but not outstanding. Oh let me not forget that hot delicious bread that melts in your mouth, they serve you first.

At the end of the day, you won’t be sorry if you make a trip to the Aquarium Restaurant.

We didn't eat out much in Grenada due to having so many friends and family there, but we visited the Aquarium twice, first for a family birthday celebration and then before boarding our flight home. Food was good, the service fine and the location fantastic. I would particularly recommend checking in early and strolling over the hill from the airport if you haven't got too much hand luggage (100yds I'd guess). Then have a drink and a decent meal before flying home.

lovely position on excellent beach ; tends to be very busy - reflecting its good reputation .especially for Sunday lunch . Good food - lobster thermidore exquisite ! Good lunch menu also.

It was a 20-minute drive for us, but we went to The Aquarium for lunch three times in two weeks.

Two of these were Sundays when they do a great barbecue and good salads, and then there is live reggae. It was a bit quieter on the other day we went, whereas Sundays are more popular.

The food and drinks were very good, and the service was fine. Great desserts too.

There was a good atmosphere about the place and everything felt fresh. The tables are virtually on the beach and very close to the sea. Magazine Beach is then a great choice for the afternoon.
