positives
great location, on Horseshoe Beach (best beach on island)
private beach access, walking distance to Horseshoe (totally worth the 5 min walk)
close to hiking trail heads

negatives (minor)
patio door didn't close completely
cosmetic mirror was broken in bath

Generally, the food in Bermuda is limited. A lot of pub food (wings, burgers, sandwiches) - not great for healthy eaters. Island seems to import its food from the US so, menus are pricey.

Recommend Medditeranea in the Fairmont lobby.

Room Tip: Harbour side is more quiet. Seaview (front) side is a bit nosier, but prettier.

In the off season, many Bermuda hotels participate in the Pink Sale. We paid a bit over $200 per night but thought that it was worth it at that price. I can't imagine, even in high season that I would ever pay $400 plus per room per night.
The hotel is in a great location. There are restaurants on property and nearby. The hotel shuttle runs constantly to take you to their private beach and the bus stop. Of course, there are always taxis available, too, but the bus is a great and inexpensive way to get around.
FYI, in the low season, the hotel's ferry to Hamilton only runs once a day.

Dear MagsF47,
Thank you for the review. We appreciate it.
We were glad to find that you enjoyed your experience amongst us. The Pink Sale is indeed a fantastic sale and makes the resort even more accessible to all guests wanting to experience Bermuda.
Just to add to your comment, the complimentary ferry service to Hamilton actually runs twice in slow season and 3 times in high season.
Thank you again for the feedback and we hope to welcome you again soon!

Stayed here for two nights during triathlon weekend. Good levels of service and friendly staff, decent food, but standard Bermuda overpricing. Amenities in room a little over the top (10 dollars for a bottle of water). Walls are really thin in room 2275..... we got woken often by adjacent room noise, including a particular charming moment when the man next door was having some fairly noisy special time for one! Also the advertising shows guest use of a pool. In fact it’s not available until the evening.... unless you are having a spa treatment, or want to pay a fee of over 40 dollars. This is very poor. Overall average experience and probably wouldn’t rush back for this sort of price.

Dear DelfromLondon,
Thank you for sharing about your experience. I am sorry to read about your concerns. I understand that room 2275 might have been noisier as it is a connecting room. We usually try to allocate people from the same party in both rooms. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience you may have suffered.
The resort pool is an outdoor pool. We indeed advertise our spa pool that can be used with spa treatment during the day. We still open the access to the spa pool complimentary to all hotel guests after the spa closes at 6:30pm.
Thank you again for the feedback. We still hope that you will present with a future occasion to better meet your expectations in the future.

We had originally planned this trip as a couples birthday and anniversary trip this past September, but you may recall there were three hurricanes in the Atlantic so we cancelled. We had a credit that was expiring in August, and we had some time over school vacation and turned it into a family trip. We have 16 yo boy and girl twins. This is our third time to the Fairmont Southampton in the past ten years. We have also stayed on other trips at the Hamilton Princess and Grotto Bay. Each time we have stayed at the Southampton property, we have spent the extra to stay on the sixth floor, Fairmont Gold Floor, and I highly recommend doing so. It is absolutely worth the premium In food and drink alone to say nothing of the enhanced experience. Some of the same staff from our original stay 10 years ago are still there. The service staff is nothing other than exceptional. For the extra, there is an always present concierge, a gourmet breakfast, tea in the afternoon, canapé at 5-6, and dessert at 8-9. The twins were blown away by the level of attention and service. The rooms and linens were great. There are no bad views. The bathrooms could use some updating, and my pet peeve with the short bowl toilet would be my only criticism. We used the local bus and scooters to explore, played their challenging and hilly par 3 course that has spectacular scenery and was in great condition. The beach was nice and we spent time there, and which has excellent amenities including a locker room and showers, and also at the public beach at horseshoe bay, which is a bit flatter but does not drop off as quickly. We hiked Tom Moore’s forest and the clear water caves, avoid the Crystal caves, Tom Moore’s is free and Crystal are not. Spent a day in St George and at Tobacco Bay. In retrospect, would have purchased a multi day bus pass (also good on the water taxi) as my wife is not a big fan of scooters on the left side of the road, but the kids loved it. There was one day we missed Canapés at 5pm and the twins were disappointed! This was an exceptional family trip, highly recommended.

Fairmont Gold is indeed a great product that is well worth it if the personalized experience is what someone is looking for. I will make sure that the Fairmont Gold staff receive your praise as I am certain that they will appreciate.

Just stayed at the Fairmont Southampton for the 8th time and it always delivers. Seeing Pascoal and Rolly bring a smile to our face and make friends feel like family.
The beaches are awesome, the views fantastic and the par 3 golf course an enjoyable challenge.
Sure the rooms on the gold floor need some TLC and the restaurants can be expensive, but you know that going in.
We met some couples that have been going the same time/place as us and we can’t wait to return and share more laughs.
Already planning a longer stay next year!!!
