Lovely boutique hotel in a historical building in the middle of a charming mountain village, only around 20 min. from the coast and Cefalù.
Great hosts (Debora & Markus with little son Boris) spoiling their guests with handmade Sicilian food and interesting discussions.
The rooms are of great design, combined with the old traditional style of the historical building.
Debora & Markus, thank you for the great time we had together - we hope to come back soon...

My girlfriend is an interior stylist and it took us a loooong time to decide where to stay in Sicily- only the best would do- but I am so happy that we took the time to find this place. Gratteri is an absolute gem in the mountains, kind locals, beautiful scenery- it is like staying in a post card and a true depiction of the real Sicily.

The staff at Dimora dei Frati could honestly not do enough for us. It was a pleasure being in their company and they made us feel less like guests and more like a part of their family. As we do not drive they helped us by giving us lifts around the area as we needed, they made recommendations for days out and arranged airport transfers. I have stayed in 5* hotels that do not come anywhere near the standards these guys have set.

The rooms are beautifully designed with a great mix of traditional and modern tastes. We were given the top floor room which is more like an apartment with two private balconies and separate living areas, not to mention an incredible free standing bath. The bed in our room was very comfortable and the thick walls of the house make sure that even in 35 degree heat the rooms stay nice and cool. And being a pale English man, I really appreciated that!

If I had my way I would still be there. I’d be 5 stone heavier, but my waistline would be a sacrifice I would be more than willing to make.

We are already clearing space in the diary to go back, but it will not be soon enough! I really cannot say enough good things about this place.

Room tip: I would 100% recommend you get the largest room if you can.

We stayed at Dimora Dei Frati for three nights, family of four, ( kids aged 6 & 9) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The B&B/hotel; is a beautiful old building restored to a very high standard, paying close attention to detail. It is very homely, immaculately clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Nice touches in the bedroom such as fresh flowers and bath robes.
Dominic who lived nearby was a charming, helpful and welcoming host who looked after us while we were there. Dominic spoke perfect English and was a wealth of knowledge about Sicily and it’s history. Dominic made delicious home cooked food for us. If you wanted (in addition to breakfast), you could have lunch and dinner or any combination of the three, but there was no pressure to have additional meals if you didn’t want them. Dominic cooks a wide range of food including meat, but as non meat eaters examples of food we had was: risotto, fresh sardine ragu, home made pasta, gnocchi and cannoli. Dominic made fresh pasta with my daughter, which she loved and the kids had for lunch the next day. We also met the owners Debora and Marcus, who were extremely friendly, helpful and keen to ensure we had everything we needed for our stay.
Gratteri is a nice quiet village in the hills, perfect for walkers and those that enjoy the outdoors. There is plenty to do in the area and it’s a good base for day trips. It is close to the coast and Cefalu, (which has a beach and interesting historical sites such as the cathedral with amazing mosaics) as well as various interesting hill town/villages.

Dimora dei Frati is a beautiful place for those who want discover the truly Sicily. This is a beautiful little Relais located in the traditional village of Gratteri, right in the middle of the Natural Park of Madonie and close to Cefalu’, giving you the choices of hills or sea. Dimora dei Frati is ideal for everyone who loves walking or trekking in the park, biking or horse ridding. Markus (The Owner) is very friendly and caring, has taken us with is Jeep for a wonderful safari in the park where you can enjoy the sea view and be fully immerse in the nature. The best is coming back in the evening and enjoy the wonderful Sicilian cuisine and rest in the your lovely home.

My wife and I have already made plans to go back soon with friends and enjoy the beautiful part of Sicily.
