During a sunny weekend visit to the lovely Moira Demesne we decided to visit the Quirky Bird Cafe in the Town Centre after recommendations from a family friend. Well the recommendation was quids in and me and my brother enjoyed a toasted wrap along the sunlit streets of Moira that afternoon from "The Quirky Bird's" on street dining area. Nothing beats lunch in the sunshine.

Looking for somewhere for a light lunch we stumbled upon this most aptly named quirky little spot in Moira. With a tasty and varied menu with something for all we duly sat down and ordered. While enjoying our food - which was truly delicious - we discovered the hidden extras. The pay forward initiative allowing us to pay for an extra cuppa and/or meal for someone in need was a great idea. But even better is the chatter and natter card that sits on a few tables (not during covid restrictions sadly) encouraging those customers who enjoy socialising to let unmet friends know they’d welcome company. What a fantastic idea especially for those who are isolated or feeling lonely. We need more quirky birds! Can’t wait to go back - hope to meet you there soon

Shown to a seat quite quickly then pace slowed down. Order was taken and pot tea arrived. HAve to say could have finished the teapot (two mugs). before the fry arrived. All was fresh and locally sourced sausages. Glad to see the beans came separately. Extra egg instead of black pudding.

Called in with my daughter for a takeaway lunch in 1st week of Jan 2021. Ordered and then noticed that the counter was fully open with no screens and that the person taking our order was not wearing a face shield or mask.A gentleman them came out and sat down to complete some paperwork again not wearing a mask in the customer area.I decided that as he was a member of staff I would ask what their policy was on staff wearing masks etc during covid lockdown. I politely asked what thw policy was and if staff should be wearing a mask when taking customer orders as they had no counter screens. His reply was staff behind the counter are not required to wear masks etc but delivered in a rude and agressive manner.I then asked if staff in kitchen area wore masks to again get the same reply in a more rude aggresive tone. The rest of the wait for our takeaway was awkward and quite long.During the wait we witnessed the staff behind the counter and in the kitchen area observe no social distancing or wearing of masks/face shields and they were also joined by the staff member who was completing paperwork in customer area also without a mask. The chef was whistling which was a concern whilst making food without a face shield. The food was eventually delivered to the counter and the counter staff member apologised for the long wait. We left with the food however decided not to actually eat it due to the observed lack of covid precautions and also as staff did not wear protective hygiene gloves or use hand santizer or wash hands during the period we waited whilst having served a number of customers.I therefore can't comment on the quality of the food as our Husky dog ate the food. My disapointment relates to the attitude displayed by the member of staff who identified himself as the Manager when asked about the cafes policy in relation to mask/face shields and his aggressive rude manner and lack of customer service. The young lady on the counter was polite at all times. Enough to say that we won't be back.
