I was mostly interested in the mosaic floors, but the entire museum is clean, well sign posted and very interesting. All signage is in Greek and English with lots of information and history. Marble statues, history of food and eating habits with cooking utensils, interesting room regarding funeral banquets. Well worth a visit!!

The mosaics on display in the museum a really worth a visit. Of course, there are some other finds on display, but the mosaics are the real attraction. If you have just been to the National Museum in Athens, please bear in mind that Lesvos is not Athens but still has an awful lot to offer.

The small museum costs 4 Euro and well worth it, several rooms with mosaics from Mytilene of exceptional quality. Several small sculptures and small beads and some pottery, but the reason for the visit are the mosaics.

Our family stopped in for a brief visit. Upon entering, we paid for our tickets and started walking through the museum. We were immediately followed from room to room by an older woman. We thought she was their the answer questions, but soon realized she was watching to make are we didn't touch or steal any of the exhibits. She spoke no English and was very rude (via hand gestures). She treated my 12 year old as though he was a criminal. Two of the adults in the group wanted to linger at one of the exhibit and they were told (via hand guessers) that they had to stay with the rest of the family. We have traveled to many great museums all over the world and have never been treated as poorly as that. The worst part was we didn't even get a chance to appreciate the treasures of the museum.
