“amazing cottage which was perfect for our family birthday celebration”

Everything you could possibly need in a cottage which felt very much like a home, not a rental. Clean, spacious and plenty of room for the whole family to relax and enjoy being together. Lovely owners who had also given extra thought for the reasons why we were staying there at the weekend. Will be staying again soon.

“Simply Outstanding!!!”

A truly fantastic holiday cottage.
We returned home today and have total holiday blues. This is a delightful property in stunning surroundings.
A perfect stay with fantastic facilities and an amazingly well equipped kitchen.
The animals are great. Our 4 year old was devastated to leave them behind. He'd now like a goat like odd spot!
Was great to be shown around by Elaine and introduced to the animals. It made our little ones day getting to feed the lambs. Rosie and Ryan are delightful and were great with our boys. Thank you to you all.
Keep up the good work, your properties are fab!!!!
See you next year.

“Great place for a family get together”
Reviewed 25 February 2015 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed here for our first family get together which consisted of 3 couples and our 9 month old daughter. The Bothy was perfect for what we wanted and was beautifully presented and well maintained. It was also a nice touch to have tea, coffee and biscuits waiting for us when we arrived :)

The Bothy is set back down behind the main house, which took a little bit of finding on arrival. However this did help ensure its very quiet - on most days all you could hear was the animals at the end of the garden.

The living room was cosy and made for great evenings playing games (or a Puzzle!). The Beds were comfortable and the bedrooms and bathrooms offered everything you would need. The bedroom above the living room was a little height limited due to the roof, but the big velux window offered fantastic views that made up for it.

We had a couple of small issues while we were there, but the owners were on hand to fix them straight away and couldn't have been more helpful. I think the only negative we found was the lack of carpets and insulation meant the bedrooms upstairs could be quite noisy.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay again when we fancy visiting this lovely area of the country again :)

“Lovely Cottage in Peaceful Location”
Reviewed 17 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

This comfy cottage is located in a peaceful area on the Dorset/ Devon border which makes it an ideal base for exploring both counties. There are some lovely local pubs in the area as well as good farm shops and small independent outlets. This is our 3rd visit to Dorset and we enjoy the slower pace of the rural district, shopping in the small independant retailers and farm shops.

On arrival we were met and shown around the cottage, a welcome tray with tea/coffee and biscuits was provided which was a nice thought, especially after the long trip.

The cottage itself is one of 3 and offered 2 large bedrooms upstairs and another on the ground floor which was ideal for my mum. All the rooms had en suite facilities.

The kitchen was large and had everything you would expect to find at home. A large fridge/freezer was more than adequate and there was a washing machine and dishwasher. There was a small table in the kitchen area and a larger one in the front room. The front room felt spacious but cosy. WI-FI was available for a small charge which was good as our mobile phone signals were very poor.

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Bothy and would definately return if in the area again.

“The perfect, peaceful place to stay”
Reviewed 16 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

I took my friend together with my 90 year old mother to stay for a week at The Bothy from 5th to 12th September and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday base in Broadwindsor, which is such a beautiful Dorset village surrounded by stunning countryside. There are so many places to visit, regardless of the weather, being less than an hour's car ride to Lyme Bay, East Devon as well as Somerset. There are wonderful countryside and coastal walks too. The Bothy is situated well away from the road and offers a place to stay which is peaceful and tranquil.

The hosts, John and Elaine are very welcoming but also respect their guests' privacy. Their children, Ryan and Rosie are delightful and happy to chat to you, whilst the animals ( 3 goats, 2 miniature ponies, 4 sheep and 2 pot bellied pigs) are very friendly and enjoy trotting down to the gate to say hello to visitors. Barley, the family dog is gorgeous too!

The Bothy was the perfect holiday accommodation for my elderly mother, as she had her own en suite room on the ground floor and the car could be taken close to the cottage door. There was ample space inside to accommodate both her wheelchair and her 'tri wheeler/ walker'. Both of the upstairs en suite bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the best nights' sleeps in a long while.

The hosts provided absolutely everything to make The Bothy the perfect place to stay. Information about places to visit, books to read, games to play ( if you have time!), TVs in all the bedrooms and all you could possibly need for use in the kitchen.

I will definitely be returning to The Bothy again for a holiday in Dorset - my favourite part of the country ( I wouldn't consider going anywhere else) . I would of course, be very happy to recommend The Bothy to my friends and family.

Thank you John and Elaine for making us so welcome again this year. Looking forward to the next time.
