We ate lunch here before catching our bus to the Denali Back Country Wildeness lodge. The place was quaint, rustic and no frills. Service was efficient and friendly. Prices were similar to other locations with sandwiches between $11 and $15. I don’t know if it was because we were late in the season but they had run out of many items on their menu such as the Caribou egg and bison chili. They were also not serving entrées at lunchtime. The bison burger was tasty and the French dip was good as well. Both were served with your choice of french fries or tater tot‘s. Refills on soda were easy to come by. Water glasses were on the very small side requiring constant refilling. Others nearby were eating a pound of chicken wings as their meal. Two unisex bathrooms are available.

There are a number of appealing choices on the menu, but one is unique: the Caribou Egg. It's an avocado stuffed with egg, covered with ground caribou, deep-fried, and served with the eatery's liquid gold sauce on a "nest" of alfalfa sprouts! So unique I couldn't pass it up! My only regret: I was too full for dessert!

Not sure how much I like the name of this place!

We ate here three times. The only option for breakfast is their buffet. The first day I had a bowl of oatmeal and a piece of bacon and it was $20. Yikes! Apparently it was a $15 slice of bacon because when I had only oatmeal the next day it was only $5. So be aware of the choices you are making!

The other thing about breakfast. The second day we ate there we went in at 8 am. The food was not being replenished ( I had to scrape the sides of the server to get my oatmeal!). They open at 5 am and close at 9 am to accommodate all the folks that are heading out on excursions. So go early!!!

Dinner was actually quite good! For the same $20 I had reindeer bolognese. It was delicious and more than enough for me to have shared. I left over half behind.

We arrived exactly at 11:00 am for lunch and asked if we would be out by 11:30 because we had to be in town by 11:45. We were told yes by our waiter. At 11:28 we still had not received our food so we asked for to-go boxes and the bill. He brought the bill right away and we heard him trashing us to the chef and questioning why we would want such a rushed lunch. We walked out without our food...he was so rude. By the time we walked to the car and were driving into town at 11:39 am he was walking out the door with our food looking for us. Seriously? All he had to do is say, no and we would have grabbed a burger in town. Too bad we are here for 2 more days and won’t be spending our hard earned cash in this restaurant.

Enjoyed the easy-ness of the brunch buffet and its full offerings. The dinner menu had a nice simplicity after a long, full day driving the Denali park. Very good food!
