Rat Monkey Tours 5 stars

Review of Monkeys Resort
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Jan 2024
I’ve been to monkeys on 3 occasions and stayed for a total of 60 days. I have gone off, shoulder and peak season. The wave out the front is exceptional. Nearby excursions are a treat. Fishing by trolling sushi entree. Meals perfect photos amazing. Each cabin had 2 double beds great by yourself.
Date of stay: June 2023
Room Tip: I recommend off season less crowds

We have just returned from our trip to monkeys and have been left with mixed thoughts.
The ‘resort’ started to feel more like a camp by day 3. We were not aware that the only surf you could get to yourself was at 6am or after 3.30pm due to all the other local land base camps and charters having arrangements. Beach breaks were advertised and paddle out to monkeys break any time but this was not allowed due to safety concerns.
We had many minor issues from the start which continued throughout our stay. These including motor issues on the transfer to resort, coffee machine down after two days, then a continuation of stock running out every day. It was basically all smoke and mirrors.
Obviously there are some internal issues going on with management and staff which was obvious and extremely unfortunate.
The local staff working at the camp should be commended! Especially Opi, my little fishing buddy Edie and yoyo who gave us so many laughs. Our host Jimmy that looked after our group went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and happy every day and was working had to provide us with what he could within his controlled guidelines.
To top it all off, both my husband and son got bed bugs 😏

Monkeys is an amazing place. I've been on many a surf trips to all parts of the world. The waves are awesome and diverse. The food is great. The accom is so relaxing. Seriously I cant recommend this place enough.

Room tip: All the bungalows are equally brilliant.
