The broth was so good that the first sip was heaven like. Can say it’s worth the hype to line up for 45 minutes.

Great food, good value. Cool experience. Worth the wait.
Went with friends, you line up on the street for an hour.
You order on screens in a waiting area and then head in to a private booth and are served your ramen from the chefs behind a bamboo screen.
pretty cool experience.

We went to Tokyo last October for a vacation. We just fell in love with Japan, that it's one of our favorite vacation spots.

Since we have not tried all of the restaurants or eateries in Tokyo in our previous trips, we had Ichiran on our list this time.

The branch we went to was in Shinjuku at the Central East exit of Shinjuku station. Since Shinjuku is the busiest station in Japan, and the world (yes, the world), you may want to use google maps for this. Even the locals gets lost inside Shinjuku station.

Ichiran Ramen is one of the ramen shops in Japan that is a must and is frequented by tourists. Though there are far more better ramen shops, this is a must in the list for the first timers in Japan.

Warning, expect a long cue when you get to the shop, and if you can't stand the cold, I would suggest you do this during the not so cold seasons as you will be standing outside on the sidewalk without any shed.

When you get inside, you will be guided to a machine where you will place you order and payment. If you are adventurous, you may try the other flavors, but if not, just order the basic ramen.

They have dessert, the green tea pannacotta with matcha syrup, and I STRONGLY recommend this! It was sooooooo good!

Once inside, a crew will hand you a paper where you can tick off your preferences and add ins for your ramen. For first timers, I would suggest you follow the suggestions of the shop which is encircled in a broken line.

You will be seated in a booth where there are dividers to separate you from the other customer seated beside you. You can, however, fold this so you can can talk or compare ramens with your companion.

Hand your order sheet, the one that was given to you, to the crew on the opposite side of the booth. And wait for your ramen.

Once your ramen is served, the crew will bring down the bamboo blind, so you can enjoy your ramen in private.

Their ramen was soo good. Their special chili sauce was soooo good as well. The chashu was really good!

I don't know how to describe their ramen, as I may not be able to give justice to it. But I highly recommend you eat at Ichiran and make sure you include this in your itinerary.

I know there are branches in other countries, but they don't make it like they do in Japan.

This place is great! It’s fast, super convenient and very consistent. We have eaten at Ichiran in Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo. All were great! We have tried a couple of other ramen places, but we always end up back here because it just can’t be beat! It’s also great that they stay open late; it’s been our fourth meal about 3 times now!

Easy to find. Very long queue but worth the wait! Simple menu and place. Only take cash, no credit card.. the taste was soooooo good.. the individualist seating can make you focus on its taste.
