Long walk from Hakata station - We took the train from Fukuoka International Airport to Hakata station. Caught in the rain, and with our luggages, it took us about 20 mins or slightly more to arrive at Dormy Inn Premium Hakata Canal City. Rained a few days during our May 2018 stay in Fukuoka, and had to buy umbrellas. When we left, we asked the hotel reception to book a taxi for us, paid 1,500 yen from hotel to airport.
Hotel is right next to Canal City. Can't miss it as you will be greeted by a huge Uniqlo sign at the traffic junction. But note all shops close by 9pm. Hotel room was nice and larger than expected, was clean with comfortable beds. Provided : free wifi, ionizer, complimentary water and bath items. Rooms were cleaned every day and new towels provided. Sliding door separates bathroom from bedroom area. Hotel staff spoke good English and were helpful when we tried to ask for info on some tourist areas to visit.
Short walk around hotel to the yatai (only opens from 6pm), and several restaurants and bars. Note: popular restaurants need prior bookings. There are also lots of food places in Hakata station as well as along the way walking back to the hotel. Convenience stores are nearby as well.
Daily breakfast was a good spread though same every day. Also enjoyed the free ramen most nights starting from 9.30pm....Long walk from Hakata station - We took the train from Fukuoka International Airport to Hakata station. There is free shuttle (one way) from hotel to Hakata station. It would be nice if they also provide a return trip from Hakata station to Dormy Inn. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, bus no. 6 which goes to Tenjin station.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Dormy Inn and will definitely come back again.More
