Arrived on Sunday afternoon, unsure of whether or not we'd manage to have lunch. We saw the lights of Buon Padre and heard laughter so thought we'd give it a go. We were welcomed warmly by Giulio and seated straight away. He immediately offered us water and a selection of bread and brought us menus which he kindly translated. After choosing an amazing mid priced Barolo, Giulio decanted it expertly and took our order. We chose Vitello Tonnato which was thin slices of veal with a tuna sauce and Insalata Rosso, a vegetable salad in delicious mayonnaise. For a main course, my gnocchi with Gorgonzola was amazing and my partner's veal cheeks cooked in Barolo wine were melt in the mouth. Perfect sized portions and I am delighted to say that we were able to try the tiramisu for dessert - what a treat with a cup of espresso! We will certainly be visiting again during our stay. A happy discovery.

We were staying at a property at walking distance and had driven from Milan the same afternoon. So were too tired to drive anywhere and were happy to walk.

The restaurant was recommended to us and turned out to be very charming. It was our first dinner in the Barolo region so we of course started with a nice bottle of Barolo.

And the evening only got better. We went with the set menu for the evening and were quite happy with the meal. We appreciated the effort from the staff to speak to us in English.

We will most certainly go back because this was our fist visit to the Barolo region and we found the region to be magical enough to want to go back for more.

Last June we spent a long weekend with friends (4 couples) in Barolo region and the dinner at Buon Padre was the gourmet experience we enjoyed most. Excellent, elegantly served local food, appreciated not only by tourists, but also by Italians; reasonably priced, top quality "house wines" Barolo Viberti, served by the owner Claudio Viberti; cosy atmosphere that doesn't let you leave and irreproachable service - what else do you need?! Early booking is recommended.

We stayed nearby and the lady running the guest house made reservations for us here. I must admit I was a bit skeptical, but it was for no reason. The food was amazing. I can definitely recommend this restaurant. Try the risotto cooked in Barolo.

In September 2016, we had dinner twice at Buon Padre. It was great. The restaurant serves great traditional Italian dishes, making use of the local special ingredients, like truffel and dishes prepared in Barolo wines. You have to try the tajarin, local pasta speciality, freshly made on a dailly basis. The rest of the dishes are great as well. We had some very nice Barolo wines to accompany the food, all from the Buon Padre vineyards, the Barolo Buon Padre 2012 is magnificant. And try a nice bichierre of Barbera to go with your cheese to finish the evening. Giulio is a very friendly and nice waiter/sommelier, knowing his wines. We visited the vineyard as well and of course took some nice wines back home.
