Short stay for my birthday

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Sept 2017
Decided on a short stay to celebrate my birthday in a place we have never been to before. Glad we did, but disappointed we didn't stay longer. Check in was not a problem, very efficient and friendly staff. The room itself was very roomy. Full kitchen, two bathrooms. Be aware, in apartment 20, there's only one tv. So if you want to fight over the remote control, it's up to you! It's very clean and the queen size bed in the main room is so comfy. The beach is across the road. Perfect. On both mornings, I saw whales! What a bonus! This place is in the perfect location. A short drive to the village, or an easy 20 minute walk will get you to some cute little shops and fantastic cafes.
Date of stay: September 2017
Room Tip: You can hear the beach, it will lull you tosleep.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel! Very clean, bright and spacious rooms (well actually it was a 2-bedroom apartment), great value for the money. Some reviewers wrote that rooms were dated but everything was in great condition so it did not bother us. The kitchen was very well equipped with any gadget or crockery you could possibly need. Graeme and Mary-Ann were very helpful in giving us tips about the area & region. Pool was clean and refreshing. The hotel was very quiet (no partiers) and was perfect getaway for the family. As a bonus, we saw no spiders or other critters on the entire hotel grounds or in the rooms thankfully. The only downside was that the wi-fi was not working the whole time we were there, but was a blessing in the end. Just took a while to get used to being offline. Beautiful beach is steps away from the hotel, the only issue were the jellyfish. If the weather were a bit cooler we would have walked to the village, but it's less than a 5 minute drive away and has everything you need - cafe, restaurants, supermarket etc. We recommend this hotel.

Upon arrival, we noted the notice on the office window, that the property was for sale. The individuals (owners?)greeting us for our 4 night stay, were indifferent. The apartment was a good size, bright and airy, with a large balcony and a limited ocean view. The pool is beautiful and the surrounding gardens very attractive. We found the street noise to be minimal. The appliances were outdated, noisy and in the case of the washing machine, leaky. We didn't have a car (we had been forewarned) and so it was a 2 1/2 km walk one way to the grocery store. Under the circumstances it would have been appreciated had the owners not been so stingy with toilet paper, shower soap and coffee. It felt like the owners have already "checked out".

We stayed there for 3 nights with our 2 young children and parents in a 2 bedroom apartment and had a very nice time. The weather was great, the apartments spacious and airy and the staff friendly and helpful. Our kids managed to add stress to the otherwise relaxing atmosphere, but that's not the resort's fault. Only 2 minute walk to the beach or 15 minute walk into Peregian shops and a 5 minute drive to Coolum. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and would happily go back.

very quite large apartment. We got room 17 with great views of the ocean through the palm trees, overlooking the well kept gardens and the spa and pool. This apartment was large and comfortable with a great large family and well equipped kitchen area.(Just a thought if you like to make your own breakfast of eggs in the morning don't forget to bring some salt) main bed room with bathroom and second also with well equipped laundry.
The sun lit family room when drapes are opened is a real plus in winter.

Room tip: Room 17 on corner and good view and quite.

Noisy. We even called them in advance to check, they assured us we would not find noise a problem. It was. Of course they couldn't do anything about the roadworks (7 am start with jack hammer and regular barrage of trucks delivering asphalt throughout the night). But even without that, it's very noisy with traffic on two sides (we were there in low season so not sure what peak would be like). You can't leave the windows open (and if you do you might get blasted by the manager at 9:30 pm because of the noise of a family card game! I do apologise for that - we had inadvertently left a window open as it had been a wet day and the rain drowned out the traffic noise which was a nice change). As for the rest - ensuite bathroom and toilet are located directly in your bedroom - no door (kind of a musty smell as a result - maybe due to the filthy air vents or fans which have a layer of dust caked on them?). Filthy carpet from the shower area, mould growing on the ceiling of the second bathroom (yuck).
Overall a pretty ordinary stay which was a pity. Peregian is a great place with plenty of friendly and quiet accommodation options. You don't need to put up with this.

Room tip: Steer away from the 3-bedder. There is only one and its awful.
