“A great setting”
Reviewed 27 July 2013 for a stay in May 2012

We stayed here once before and love the old monastery. It has been beautifully restored and really nicely furnished. The gardens were lovely, with lovely walks up the hill to the woodland area and down in to the valley. A very enjoyable stay. The locals in Apecchio and in Piobbico were all very friendly and you feel you are really in the "proper" Italy. Lots to visit within an hours drive, Assisi, Gubbio and Urbino are all really fantastic.

“A special and unique taste of Italy”

We have just spent a very memorable week at Monastero San Ansovino, the occasion being to celebrate a special birthday with family and friends from England and Australia. It was magical. San Ansovino itself is stunning - beautifully set in the rolling hills where Marche, Umbria and Tuscany meet, cleverly renovated and clearly done with so much thought and love.

The close towns of Apecchio, Piobbico and Colombara only a few kilometres away in different directions, offered the opportunity to visit beautiful old Italian villages with gorgeous tree-lined cobbled streets and friendly local markets and bars. There was plenty more to see for a slightly longer drive.

A particular highlight was my birthday dinner at the restaurant just at the bottom of the hill. Pier-Georgio and his colleagues made it such a special night for us all. The food was amazing, authentic, delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere was lovely and the cake they made was a special touch along with the gorgeous bunch of flowers they presented me.

I cannot recommend Monastero San Ansovino highly enough. A very special place.

“A Hidden Retreat In the Hills”
Reviewed 24 February 2013 for a stay in August 2012

I do not normally write reviews due to a worry that if everyone knows how good something is it ceases to become exclusive, but I am compelled to share the unique offering of this beautiful monastery.

It is a true retreat from the rat race, without sacrificing the finer things we enjoy. Peace, quite and solitude set amongst the hills with stunning vistas. Yet with high quality modern facilities a great pool and a welcoming local town for the essentials or a night out with the family. A true Italian food experience is just a short excursion away.

We went as a family for 2 weeks and it was true relaxation. We rarely ventured out other than for supplies or an enjoyable family meal in a local restaurant. Home became beside the pool. The useful loggia became our kitchen and dining room for most meals. If it was possible the kids would have slept in the pool! We did compromise and have many late night swims in the pool light.

Transport to and from the airport was very easy and a vehicle or hire car is essential. A day to the beach and the dolphinarium was a great day trip to Rimini. With the comforts of home on return.
