My husband and I called in on a whim for a late night dinner. we both chose Angus fillet cooked medium rare. It was perfect - my potato gratin tasty, the homemade red wine jus and caramelised onion delicious and the vegetables werent overcooked. Add to that a Midori creme brule with the perfect"crunch" - couldnt have asked for a better evening.
Thanks, we will be back!

Food was ok but a bit disappointed because we couldn’t use entertainment voucher for daily special menu. It didn’t say so on their website. May be because of new owner, new management? So, we should order from menu book, not from black board if we want to use our entertainment book.

My husband and I came here for a late dinner. The restaurant was very busy but the waiters went out of their way to accommodate us. I ordered the squid entree and the chicken breast for mains. Delicious would be an understatement. The chicken breast was made to perfection and the squid was so good, that I ordered some for takeaway. My husband ordered the lamb shank and it was very tasty too. We are definitely coming back. Thanks :)

booked for a sunday "High Tea". HT means Tea Cups, cakes and biscuits (& maybe small delicate sandwiches). What we got was teacups (chunky) are over there on table, help yourselves to tea bags and hot water (from the coffee pot). Huge plate of obviously store-bought mini mince pies, small sausage rolls and thick sandwiches with greenery filling. It would appear that management/staff have no idea of what is a "High Tea" and couldn't care less.
p.s. one of our group asked for an Americano coffee with hot milk on side: First: was presented with a cappuccino! Next - a flat white!! Third time round a tiny black - full to the brim with no room for milk. Had to ask for large cup to transfer coffee into - then more hot water as cup was only half full (even after adding the milk!!!

Party of 5 adults, booked weeks prior. Wait staff took orders but later came back and told us that two of the items ordered were not available. Replacements were ordered. Entrees were delivered some time later. The Mojito Prawns were standard shrimps, with one tasteless prawn hanging off the glass. Eventually we got our mains, which were delivered among the detritus of our entrees. The pork ribs were served without the listed slaw, instead some wilted lettuce and shoestring fries. The listed barbecue sauce appeared to be standard tomato sauce. The rib-eye fillet may have been fillet but likely not, served on a bed of soggy potato mash. Vegetables cold and not cooked. I agree with James E, the sticky date pudding rated a 1 out of 5. This used to be a great place with award winning food and service. No more regrettably. The waitresses were dressed neatly in black...our waiter had ripped jeans and a very old t-shirt. For the prices paid (NZ$130 for two, excluding wine) we expected, and deserved better. That will be our last visit. Ever...
