We only had time for a long weekend unfortunately but the apartment was lovely and in the heart of a pretty little village with local bars and a shop. Mike was great and told us the local must do things and which days to do what and general translation/local know how. He was really helpful. A great host. Thanks Mike hope to see you again.
Location is stunning, wonderful apartment with large balcony and beautiful garden to relax in. This apartment is very chic and stylish with excellent facilities, modern large kitchen and stunning interior. Perfect location to visit lakes and markets lots to see, the village itself has a well stocked shop and very friendly local bar owner. Mike was incredibly helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this apartment to stay at, it's a great price and a very relaxing break!
the place was really quite lovely inside- and michael our host was absolutely helpful- highly recommended
Le Balcon is very comfortable with rural views from the lounge at the back. The front balcony over the street is great for breakfast sunshine and engagement with friendly local life.
St Colombe is a typical rural village in the Midi Pyrenees. A lively bar run by Alex, a short walk up the street.
A marvellous disused railway walk (38kms), can be done in stages. Mirepoix Monday market not to be missed.
The nearby Lac de Montbel is a great place for sailing and canoeing.
We had a fantastic two weeks here, would definitely come again.
We visited the foothills of the Pyrenees staying at St. Colombe sur L'Hers a hidden tranquil village within east reach of Carcassone (worth a day visit) but a car is essential for shopping and reaching the lovely lake at Montbel for a relaxind day in or by the water with a bar and food amenities. We were charmed by the apartment which had all the modern amenities with a 'shabby chic' feel. All rooms were large and comfortable and a balcony overlooking the street. There was a lively bar 2 minutes walk away for a drink in the evening.
Other villages all within a short drive had supermarkets, brocantes and local parks. Mirepoire was a market town with a square surrounded by lovely buidings and a great market. The plat du jour (lunch) in many of the villages were value for money.
All in all a restful holiday that could be spent walking the enormous countryside, swimming at Montbel or exploring the many villages nearby. Thoroughly enjoyed!
