Having first visited this restaurant by the beach about 4 years ago we returned last night to see if it was still as good as we remembered. We were not disappointed! The food is authentic Thai and the setting is rustic and impressive. Angela is an excellent host and goes out of her way to ensure your experience will be unforgettable. The first time we came to Phuket we visited 3 times, one of which was to do the cooking class she offers which is also excellent and highly recommended. There are many cookery schools in Thailand but few that are as genuine and authentic as the White Orchid.

Angela offers the classes whenever you wish to do them. You eat what you cook so take a hungry friend! I learnt how to cook 4 dishes with authentic Thai ingredients. A very personalised experience!

Don't be put off by the appearance - Angela is still struggling after the tsunami in 2004 - an authentic Thai cooking class. Angela even picked us up from our resort in her truck & returned us after the class.

A very pleasant way to spend a couple of hours with family & friends brushing up on your cooking skills.

We have been to this restaurant (not the cooking class) many times. The good is excellent especially the curries and the homemade (very authentic) Thai fish cakes - delicious. However, none of the good items are on the menu - you have to ask as most of the menu shows western food and not what this place should be promoting. Also, the restaurant looks very run down and when you first turn up it almost looks closed but I strongly recommend you look past the decor and give it a go! The service is also slow but we didn't mind the wait as the food is worth it. Short tuktuk or taxi from Kamala 200 baht.

Dont book through your hotel, instead come see angela for an authentic and affordable thai cooking class. This small business is still rebuilding after the tsunami so dont be put off by the exterior. Ang is just lovely, friendly and willing to teach/help you along. The food is delicious and plentiful, we even brought the extras home. Dont miss out on an amazing 2hr experience for only 1500baht/person for two courses and dessert with drinks. You won't regret it!
