“A relaxing little paradise!!”
Reviewed 4 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Stayed half term, weather was fab, but pool is heated anyway :-) (English) hosts Karen and Robert are friendly and full of local knowledge. Even though they live on site they are very unobtrusive, leaving you to get on with your hol, but on hand for any questions. We only spent a week, so wished it was more. Didn't want to leave. A tranquil spot (but less than 10 mins from large supermarkets in Confolens). Would recommend to families, big groups of friends, activity hols.... well, anyone really!!

“An absolute gem of a gîte!”
Reviewed 15 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We were looking for a quiet relaxing stay in nice accommodation where I could do some cycling and the family could chill by the pool.
La Grange Terrou, situated a short distance away from the town of Confolens in lovely quiet countryside, met and exceeded these requirements. Robert and Karen are very welcoming hosts and they could not do enough to make our stay a very enjoyable one and work very hard to improve what is already a lovely gîte.
The gîte itself has two good sized double bedrooms, one with ensuite - the first floor room is especially lovely - with a third floor bunk room perfect for the kids. There is a fully equipped kitchen and relaxing lounge/dining area. The bathrooms, equipped with showers, are clean and modern.
There are nice grounds and bbq area but special mention should be given to the lovely pool and gazebo which is the perfect place to chill with a glass of wine while the sun goes down!
And the cycling? Very quiet roads give plenty of options to test yourself or blow away the cobwebs after perhaps too much French vino....

PS the dogs are really lovely!

Thank you so much for such a nice review. And such a bonus receiving your lovely photos.
The little owl is working hard to feed her young at the moment. As dusk falls they start screeching for food, a really scarey noise.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and keep an eye on our face book page to see the next projects.

“Gorgeous gite, wonderful owners, peaceful and beautiful”
Reviewed 18 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We had the best time..... Robert and Karen were so welcoming and helpful... anything we needed to ask was no problem. We took our dog and they even looked after him when we went out for a while! We also had a lovely evening socialising with them both and another family who stayed in the other gite... a great idea and made everyone feel relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble! The gite itself was gorgeous, so spacious and with everything you would need...a home from home. We made use of the pool table, English TV, games, WiFi and the lovely pool. We loved using the bbq and it was handy that you could see the children in the pool as well as cook on the bbq.... great if you have younger children. Our dog Benny loved running around as there is plenty of green and he was thankful there was a fair bit of shade too. A highly recommended relaxing holiday :)

Hi Pia, what a nice review, thank you so much! It was lovely to have you here and we are so glad you managed to relax a bit. I think even Benny was chilled by the time he left! The pool is up to 29 degrees today and it is hitting 37 outside. Almost too hot! But bearable with a chilled glass of rose! Enjoy the rest of your summer.

“Relaxing walking weekend in the Hunters House”
Reviewed 29 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We spent a long weekend in the Maison de la Chasse - part of the domaine of La Grange Terrou. The weather was excellent for early September so breakfast and lunch were eaten outside in the courtyard and drinks in the pagoda in the evening with a brazier blazing to take the chill off. The Hunters House is comfortable and homely with a a great downstairs kitchen and dining area with two bedrooms. The upstairs has a cosy living room with TV and a games area including a small chill out area plus another two bedrooms both ensuite....once again very tastefully decorated and comfortable.
The weather suited us for long walks through the woods to the river and to the medieval chateau with its fabulous views over the town and river.
A short distance by car of about 25 minutes is the medieval town of Montmorillon with its history of publishing and writing plus a museum of macarons. There are a couple of restaurants on the river Vienne plus several in the cobbled streets and a 12th century church steeped in history. For those wanting something more fast paced there's the Circuit du Val de Vienne which has motorcycle and car race meetings throughout the year about twenty minutes drive from La Grange Terrou.
For a relaxing 'getting away from it all' holiday in the country we can highly recommend this part of France and the welcoming and homely feel of the Hunters' house.
We will be back next year......
