This review is overdue as we stayed here in May of 2018 (ignore the date where it indicates "When did you travel?" as the only option started at July 2018.

This resort was old and outdated when we were there but that didn't bother us. We just wanted to see another part of the Caribbean after being to Cuba 15 times and Dominican 6 or 7 times. We were there mostly for the beach. And wow, we were not disappointed! We snorkelled every day. We saw some sea snakes squirming along the bottom of the ocean, barracudas, a shoal of squid, eels and all kinds of tropical fish. Would have been cool to see a turtle in the water but we didn't. Although we did see one on our night time Leatherback turtle excursion. This is a must when in Grenada (between April and July)! We got to see one lay her eggs on Levera Beach by Sugar Loaf Island and it felt so surreal seeing this huge 6 foot long, 1,500lb ancient reptile in front of us. If you ever get the chance, do it!

The food at the resort was so so. There wasn't a huge selection at the buffet, pretty small in my opinion, but we didn't go hungry. I enjoyed swordfish the one night. It was a hassle to get cold water at this resort (even during meals). They didn't supply your room with bottled water. Get a water bottle to be able to refill and keep in your room fridge.

Our room was Hillside which was not a big deal to us as we weren't there to spend time in our room. The bathroom was very small especially the shower. It was tight! I could not bend down to wash my feet. I had to lift my leg up by bending my knee to get at my feet, that's how tiny it was (28"×28"). And nowhere to put your shampoo/conditioner and soap. I had to put my stuff on the bottom ledge of the opening to the shower and grab it as I needed it. Also glad I took an eye mask along, no black out curtains on the sliding door to the balcony.....it was bright early morning. Other than that, the room was fine.

The little beach bar was a nice spot to have a cold drink at the end of the day to watch the sun go down. They closed early but the bartender always left us a couple of beers as long as we put our empty bottles in the box and the ice bucket back behind the bar or in the sink. The pool area was also a good spot to watch the sun go down as it's on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The snack/lunch restaurant at the pool served a buffet style lunch. I can't remember if you could order from a menu or not.

I can't comment on the nightly entertainment cause we never stayed up late enough to see it if they had it.

We would definitely go back to Grenada but I'm not sure if we would return to this resort. It was the Grenadian by Rex Resorts when we were there last year.

A little highly priced for a 3 1/2star, however, exactly what we look for. Quiet, not too many activities all day and night. So sad sold and re opening under new brand and probably higher price, with more buildings which will be more congestion of people.
Staff were wonderful, friendly, and helpful all the time. Food was good, rooms were clean and beach's were fantastic.

We started the holiday in the full knowledge that the hotel was only 3star and would probably not as its best as was about to be redeveloped, although resent travel reviews been very favourable.

On the whole we found it to be an excellent hotel, with a fantastic location and great grounds, Food was good and varied, and drinks while depending on what the bars had in the way of mixes was entertaining (in a good way). Also the staff did a wonderful job and are to be congratulated, especially as under the knowledge it was in all likelihood their last few weeks of employment, although hopefully they will be reemployed when it reopens.

Dearest IanK1326,

It was our pleasure hosting you on your recent Grenada holiday. Thank you for your kind words of the staff. As a whole, we are all excited for the changes and look forward to re-opening in December 2019 as the Royalton Grenada Resort and Spa. As the major asset of any company/hotel/resort is the staff, it is the intention of hiring as many of our prior team members who would like to return in December.

We hope that you will return to see the changes and experience the warmth of the Spice Island's citizens and culture.

Best regards,
Christopher Forbes
