Show lessWe stayed at the Marriott Village D'ile de France between July 7th and the 14th and absolutely loved it. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa which was immaculately clean--kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bedrooms, foyer, laundry room, 3 bathrooms and plenty of closets. Each room was pleasantly decorated and the LR/DR lead out to a patio overlooking a pond and the golf course. The property is designed to resemble a French Village. There is a play center overseen by 2 "teachers" onsite for the kids (which my children enjoyed), a bar with a limited menu, and a great pool.
A shuttle bus is available from the resort, which takes you to the Disney Parks as well as the train station for trains to Paris. We went to the Disney Parks during 2 days of our stay, and went to Paris 3 other days. It takes about 45 minutes by train on the RER, which leaves you in the center of Paris. I've read reviews that indicate that this is a long trip, however, the trip is really not that bad.
It's a 10 minute walk to town, where there is a Champion Supermarket and a very good Patisserie with excellent French Bread and Croissants.
The only drawbacks with the resort is the lack of restaurant options and their expensive food market There is no full service restaurant on the property, just a bar with a limited offerring. The resort offers a "galloping gourmet" service which is a take out service, delivering food from a variety of area restaurants. Beware--it is very expensive and portions are small.
Tip - walk to the supermarket to buy what you need, and cook in your villa if you have the time or want to make the effort. We had dinner in our villa 3 nights and it was great. Additionally, try to buy things like soda, beer, snacks at the supermarket, because you'll pay dearly if you purchase these items in the resorts market. Use the resort's market only as a last resort.
If you want to make a long distance call to the US from the villa it will cost you 2 Euro per minute. Ask the desk to sell you a France Telecom Card. For about 7 Euro, you can have about 25 minutes of talk time using the public phone in the lobby.
In the final analysis, we had a fabulous time at the Marriott and we definitely recommend staying there.
My wife and I have stayed in this Marriott more than five times. It amazes us on each visit. The hotel is outside of Paris near the Disney resort, but it's a quick drive or train ride into the city, and the prices are comparable to anything you'd find in the center of Paris. The place can hold at least 6 people, has two floors, and is a very new property (backing up to great views of a golf course). We've had no problems on any of our visits, and the staff have been accommodating.
Positives:
1) Extremely new and clean
2) Large two-story condo (with washer/dryer/kitchen/etc)
3) Good views
4) Proximity to Euro Disney / Disney Village
5) Free parking
6) Quiet
7) 2 large bathrooms
Negatives:
1) Proximity to central Paris
We highly recommend this hotel.
What a great place.. It is about 35 minutes car ride from Paris (the city) and is about 5 minutes from Disney. Our villa was beautiful. 2 levels with 2 bedrooms/2 bath upstairs, and big kitchen - fully equiped, dining room, and living room and french doors opening into a beautiful garden overlooking the golf course. My husband and I travelled with 2 kids and our plan was to primarily visit Paris and all of the monuments, as well as Champagne, Provin, Versaille and you should defenitely go see Claude Monets home and spectacular gardens. We defenitely recommend renting a car and getting a few good maps before going. The roads are tricky and we got lost a few times, but the locals were very nice and willing to help. It took us about 35-40 minutes drive to get to Paris. We parked either on the streets or in the underground parking lots which are located all over the city. It costs no more than 30 US dollars for the day. Cheaper than taking the railroad from the hotel to Paris for a family of 4. We loved the metro. It was very easy to get around with it, and the cost was reasonable. Have dinner in the Latin Quarters we loved it. It was very charming and lively- something to see. Also dont miss visiting the Sacre Ceur or mon matre- you get a great view of the city from high up.
The resort was a little quite and the outdoor pool was closed-it wasnt warm enough for it yet. The indoor pool was really nice- warm and clean, and there were 2 jacuzzis as well. The service was great in the hotel- no complaints. There's a supermarket within walking distance from the resort where you can buy what you need for the kitchen. Defenitely bring a 110/220 voltage converter as you will need it for this trip. The concierge desk was very helpful in helping us to plan our day. If you're going to visit Paris, expect to be out all day, because it doesnt pay to go to Paris for a few hours and then return to the resort and then go back later....too much driving. (The only dissadvantage of staying here). If your're visiting Disney World then this resort is very convenient. There are no tennnis courts or golf courses on this resort. Another disadvantage. The golf course that surrounds this resort, is owned and operated by Disney.
I would definetly go back to this resort again, and would recommend it - if you don't mind driving to and from Paris everyday. Keep in mind the gas prices are more than twice what they are in the states.
Stayed in one of the houses in the "street" Le Pre the first week of May this year. A beaytiful house at the end of a small "street" where all the houses - mostly four/five in a row- built like a French village. All houses of different colours and shape. Our house where also fit for wheelchairs. Had two floors with the handicap bedroom and bathroom at the ground floor.
Wonderful colours and nice to sit down and relax. Everything you needed in the kitchen including iron, washingmachine and tumble drier. Two big bathrooms, nice thick towels. Plenty of towels !!
The resort itself is beatiful, the outdoor pool was not opened yet, prepared for opening at the moment.
A very little supermarket - expensive and a lousy choice of food. No restaurant, only a few snacks in the bar area. Walking distance to the little village nearby ( 5-10min) Nearest hotel where you could have dinner in the evening was Radisson SAS.
Otherwise a 10 min. drive toVal d`Europe where you had a choice of different restaurants and junkfood places. In a 20 min. drive you found two restaurants with nice local food. You get a list of all the eating places in the reception. We were four adults without any plans for visiting Disneyland, and in many ways, you are in the middle of nowhere staying at the resort. You need 1 hour ( remember it is always rush hours into Paris) to get to Paris.
We had wonderful trips to Chartres, Beauveau, Normandy, Champagne route and Giverny ( do not miss Monets garden !!!)
You so absolutely need a rental car. The resort has a shuttle bus to Disneyland of course and also to Val d`Europe where you find the biggest factory outlets in Europe ( we were told), but everything was very expensive !!
