If you need a shot of inspiration get it before you leave town because the coffee at the cafe is absolutely atrocious.

I was saying to my wife as I sipped my cup of sludge that the business model must be this:

1. Real Journeys understands that people will likely only do this trip once in their lifetime.

2. So it does not matter how good or bad the coffee they serve is - nobody is coming back for more.

3. So they buy low quality low cost beans --- and flog it.

4. And what can people do - of course they could reject it --- but then what - you need that fix so you drink it....

In all seriousness... I would have preferred a Nescafe 3in1.... that's how bad it is!

Hopefully someone at RJ is reading this and will realize that saving a few pennies on the beans.... does not reflect well on the overall business.

You guys are meant to be a premium travel services provider -- that starts with the little things.

I was with a Tour Party of 44 who had booked the Fiordland Navigator for 2 nights. What an experience had by all. Food delicious---- Dave [Captain]] and Carol the Nature Guide ---and the crew all so friendly and helpful you could tell very dedicated and loved their jobs.
Boat very clean and bedrooms very comfortable but as always on these boats Bathrooms small but hot water supply to shower excellent . Certainly a peaceful haven
and scenery beautiful. No wifi past Lake Manapouri but in this remote part on NZ to be expected.

Doubtful Sound (technically a fiord) - impressive 7+ hour Real Journeys tour from Manapouri. First a sail across Lake Manapouri around 45 mins, then 45 mins via coach across Wilmot Pass to Deep Cove then another boat journey out to Milford Sound, fur seal colony (if calm), and the Tasman Sea then return. Leaves 1030 and return 1745. Pre-order a picnic or buy snacks aboard. Free tea/coffee. Cash for everything else including the bar. Our day was a Tuesday in October, 90 pax. Dress for wind but warm inside cabins. Secure hats etc from wind gusts. Don’t expect bright sun in this misty region. Plenty of seating and good views. Clean facilities and informative commentary. No WIFI beyond the Lake.

We were blessed with great weather that added to the beauty of Doubtful Sound. The crew was by captain Dave was amazing. We have extensive small boat cruising and this was as good as any. Carol the nature guide was incredibly insightful and approachable. Really fun trip.

We booked the overnight cruise - what a wonderful experience - lovely boat, great staff and good food. Such a serene peaceful cruise to the mouth of the Sound - kayaking also part of the experience and saw seals, penguins and dolphins! The scenery, the sky and the silence were breathtaking - all very different from the Milford Sound cruise which is much busier, shorter cruise but lovely drive over. Worth doing both if you can.
