This restaurant,at the rear of The Sheet Anchor pub, has been refurbished in a modern style of scrubbed wood and metal.
Very welcoming on a Wednesday lunchtime.
We just had mains, thank goodness, as portions are large. We both had the mixed platter of baby pork ribs and smoked chicken. Excellent flavours and the meat was so succulent that it fell off the park rib.
Definite location for meat eaters.
Good selection of wine by the glass.
Very polite staff. We will return. Good value for money.

Meal out with friends to a very busy sheet anchor or block house as it's now called , seems to be recently refurbished and the current restaurant to visit, a cosy pub section and friendly staff .
The food is expensive for what you get as the portions are small , saying that my steak was perfectly cooked only let down by the small pot of chips and bit of lettuce with coleslaw on , friends had burgers which they said were tasty although served on a chunk of wood which seems to be the trend . All in all I found it a welcoming place with great staff but poor portions and expensive

Just finished a family meal. Food was lovely and waiting staff great but so slow. Sat down at 4 and only just left. 45 minute wait between all courses and restaurant wasnt full. We had two children with us and one of the kids meals was very late after all the other mains. One of the mains also had some vegetables missing which then came separately 5 minutes later. And then the bill was wrong after we waited more than half an hour for it to arrive. Such a shame as the food was fabulous but wouldn't go back as food was just too slow.

Dimmed lights and good ambience. Polite and helpful staff. Everything was clean. I appreciate the style of restaurant but not everyone in a party will want to eat an all-meat grilled meal so some lighter bites and an occasional non-meat option would have been appreciated. Most of the food ordered was declared to be good but the Caesar salad had dry overcooked chicken, rashers of hard (not crispy) bacon and 3 large croutons like concrete. Sorry guys. I picked out what was edible and thank you for not charging, but we did not receive the jug of water though were still charged £3.80 for it. Puddings were quite decent but the tiramisu cheesecake had a very odd bitty texture. A nice evening out but for choice and standard of food, we much prefer your other establishments.

The Parogon pub group has added a BBQ grill to its portfolio of excellent pub restaurants. Very good service by attentive waitress. The starter of bbq chicken nachos was disappointing-too small a portion and a soggy bottom and needs a re-think by the chefs. Had the full block burger for main course and it was delicious, the only problem being whether you attempt to eat it with fingers or a knife and fork.

The decor and atmosphere are great and I would highly recommend especially if you are a true carnivore
