We had been to Istron Bay twice before, once on honeymoon, and had a wonderful time - you go there for the peace and quiet because the hotel is completely isolated from anything else in its own private bay - no nightclubs nearby or on site, we went there to recharge and relax. How it's changed, and not for the good. We should have known on arrival when we saw the big orange-branded sign saying 'Benvenuti', compounded by the receptionist telling us 'it has changed a bit' since we were last there. It's still family-owned but, I guess to survive the tough economic challenges in Greece, they've done a deal with a chain called Villaggi Bravo (VB) which has turned it into an Italian holiday camp. The whole hotel now has the VB branding everywhere - etched on windows and on the many signs and signposts all over the hotel's grounds. VB run the place and every day is full of activities and music all at high tempo and volume. We'd booked a superior room - it wasn't. Instead of a sitting area it had a manky kitchen with units falling off the wall. We asked for a change and were given a much better room, though even here we had to catch and throw out three cockroaches from the bathroom in the week. What they didn't tell us was that it was in the heart of the VB night action. 11pm on the first evening 15 metres outside our bedroom door was a horde of Italian parents and children shouting, screaming and singing all organised by VB till midnight. Called reception to get it stopped, they couldn't - VB clearly 'own' the hotel. This pattern repeated throughout the week, as did being woken early by noisy Italian children. As a 'restful' week it sucked. Had a long chat with management and asked when the next noisy evenings would be, they couldn't say. Asked them if they thought their website gave a true reflection of what they offered - Offer: peace, quiet and special service; Reality: Noisy Italian holiday camp, VB clearly own this hotel, it's no more than a Butlins for Italians (who are all incredibly unfriendly). Management offered 'all inclusive' for the last 2 days in compensation and a free lunch. Declined the all inclusive arm bands but left the lunch open - 4 noisy nights out of seven, the last night going on till 12:30 right outside our room. Checked out and asked for free lunch, was told we'd declined it when we said we didn't want the all inclusive. So disappointing, it's a paradise lost. And the sea on the beach is disgustingly dirty - plastic bags, bottles and an oily scum which you have to swim through to clear water. On the plus side the location is beautiful, the waiting staff are fantastic, as is the food. But this is a case of economic need changing a once-beautiful place, don't go here if you want peace and quiet. We won't be going back.

We stayed 6 days which was 5 too many. Towels in room never changed, no bath gel only heaps of shampoos. Hotel appears to be taken over by Bravo Viaggi. Took over bar for ouzo shots! At beach techno music and man yelling into microphone most of day. Bravo ate dinner in restaurant; non-Italians ate almost to beach. Location fine, but the main courses served were filth. Inedible.
Our room, superior, looked nothing like brochure photo. We asked for another chair, as in photo. It was stained. Terrible, terrible. Avoid like the plague.

Room Tip: Do not go.

This is a very quiet hotel in a fantastic location. Beach is good for a bit of armature snorkeling and the pool is great for catching up with those books you’ve always wanted to read. Great for couples and families who like quiet but not if you are looking for other families. Staff were very friendly, especially the car hire team who bent over backwards for us. The view is second to none.

This hotel has excellent views out over the bay right from your balcony. We chose this hotel for its isolated location and hired a car to travel around the island. If you are not going half board / all inclusive you will need a car to access a wider choice of restaurants.

The pool and beach are excellent as is the snack bar that is available for lunches.

We went half board and the food was ok but did improve half way through our visit when "Club Bravo" started. After this there was a omelette station and several extra hot food choices.

The in room wifi was non existent, but you could get slow wifi on the balcony or higher speed wifi in the bar, restaurant and pool areas. Mobile reception was also very bad in the rooms - but we didn't mind as it meant you could relax properly in your room without distraction.

This hotel has a lot of stairs so if you have young children or need accessible access I would not stay here, however for anyone else this is a great place.

We went there with our baby and fron the first moment we understood that it is not baby-friendly. Too many stairs everywhere and we didn't even have the possibility to change room as the hotel was full and also -even if we changed- we would still have to use stairs to go anywhere.

The facilities might be ok for a 5star hotel of the '90's, but not for 2017!

The breakfast and meals where fine, in average variety.

The staff was very Polite and eager to help.

The location is great and the wonderful beach right in front of the hotel!
