On our forth trip to Naxos we discovered this beautiful laid back beach.

There are 3 umbrella areas. It’s not too packed. People are friendly. With only one taverna it’s a completely different feel to Agios Anna and Plaka.

We loved it.

We got the bus here from Naxos Town port. It cost €2.40 each way.
Yes in the north side of beach the wind does blow and that area is higher by wind & kite surfers.
The south side of the beach though today 2nd July pretty calm, sheltered and easy to swim in. Shallow enough for kids too.
Lots of sun beds and brollies or you can find your own spot on the wide vast sands or shade under the trees.
Lack of information as to when buses return though and timetables not so easy to read or missing.

I was in Mikri Vigla this June (me and my partner rented a flat in the area). Basically there are two beaches divided by a headland: in both the sea is pristine and stunning... but one part of the beach is often windy and famous for kitesurfers (we were very lucky because for several days in a row there wasn't the wind so we could stay in this beach... just few tourists and a long white beach for us...). The sand is made by little sand grains, not too soft actually but not sticky the sea is great! Behind there are some cedar wood trees where you can find a bit of shade. There is a cafè on the beach (beautiful) and a beach facility with umbrellas (but not sure if it belongs just to a hotel). If it's windy the sea is a bit rough and it's even a bit dangerous to swim becasue the surfers stay near the shore.. If it's windy you can go to the other side (just 10 mins walking) and you can find a free wind spot of beach near a tipical Greek taverna. Here the sea is always quiet, again pristine, and again you can find some shade. In this part of the beach you can find beach facilities (umbrellas). If you go beyond this initial part of the beach you can walk for 30 mininutes on the beach in a very beautiful and unspotted part of the beach, a savage area of rare beauty. If you love nature you should come here, better for a walk at the sunset. The sand is in little grains again, and you need beach shoes to get in the water here, because there are flat rocks all along the beach. But again: it's very beautiful!

Right next to Orkos beach, past the kitesurfers... The white rocks combined with the golden sand create a stunning landscape! The waters are shallow and the beach is generally very clean. Beautiful colors <3, loved the nature around.

What a beautiful beach! Even though it was to cold to swim, we still enjoyed our time here exploring the rocks and watching the sunset. It was absolutely beautiful! Take a blanket and some wine, climb up the rocks and sit and watch. You wont regret it!
