Bad sea trip, captain didn't seem to know his way around and was a bit lost when the sea became really choppy with the wind. Choose another one. The little beach discovery cruises are very nice

We enjoyed an 8 hours cruise on Kapetan Manolis boat, with his son George for captain. We visited the seacave at northeast of Karpathos ,then we reached the Karpathos-Saria pass which was wavy at early August. The first stop in Saria was at a great beach under a 100 meter cliff and we continued sailing to Palatia with clear green water and archeological interest. George showed us other sea caves between the rocks at Palatia which was amazing. George also was a live wiki for the place giving us information for everything that was above the island now and at the past. Leaving Palatia after 3 hours, enough time to explore the place, we sailed to another beach of east Saria called Alimounta with great water and a good place to relax for an hour. Captain all the time did his best for us by sailing between the enormous coastal rocks and after leaving Alimounta we reached the north cape of Saria, a route that nobody else would follow for sure.

Captain Manolis is a native of Diafani, a passionate of his island, of its culture and his history. We were a little group, less than 20 on the boat and we went to Saria for a day tour, leaving at 10:00 am and back at around 17:30. Georges showed us all what he could, and you could feel that he wanted to share something. In Sari, he even swam with us with snorkel masks to show us some caves, some fantastic waters, things you will never see unless it is a diving club etc.... you really think that this is where he used to come wand play when he was a child.. He steers the boat on his own, will let you steer it if you want, he prepares the BBQ on the beach with simple fishes grilled, explains you the history if the island with his little english but good enough to pass the emotion. I recommend this tour with him very much, it is not a tour for 5 stars hotel fans who expects ice in their favourite drink, funky music in the boat, air conditioned space..This is a tour for nature lover and people looking for a local experience, out of the tour operators and common tourist crowds.

learn the history and visit places not easily accessible
just make sure to prebook because George's boat is not very big and routes change every day
