Giorgos is passionate about the island and the trip is excellent value at 30e with lunch.
Its only 20e without the lunch which was not great but ok. Our trip visited Tristomo which is a fascinating place before heading on to Palatia on Saria. Its all done at a leisurely pace and no rush to get back to Diafani. Giorgios has a vast knowledge of the history of ancient Karpathos and is happy to lead short hikes on the trip to things you would otherwise miss.

I have been on three different itineraries with the captain manolis boat. Giorgos provides information on the island and takes you further than others to make sure guest enjoy the island at its best.
Confident and safe in super windy days, he is a captain you can trust.
For 10 euros extra lunch is included

Every trip was a true pleasure.

After the first excursion we quicky booked two more. Such was our satisfaction after the first one to Saria. Giorgios Protopapas is a passionate guide to the beauty of the islands and the karpathian sea.
He spent spent more time with his guests than he had to, providing history insights, caves discovery and breathtaking beaches.
If you want, he will cook lunch for you.
All daily trips are at a very reasonable price.
We enjoyed the trips till the last minute, sipping a drink of ouzo offered by the Captain on the wau back to Diafani.
Highly reccomended.

Giorgos, the captain of the boat was very pleasant who knows much interesting things about history of the island Karpathos and islet Saria. During the trip we visited magical beaches, bathed in a cave, went for a walk to archaic village and Giorgos prepared to us excellent grilled fish/chicken for lunch. Many thanks for wonderful experience!!! :-)

For people, who love hiking and swimming, Northern Karpathos is a paradise, and to this part also belongs the beautiful uninhabited island of Saria, best visited on a day trip by boat, for example with the 'Captain Manolis'. This attractive traditonal boat is run by Giorgos, who named it after his father Manolis, in the old days in charge of the regular postal service from here to Southern Karpathos, when there still was no road.

The excursion is a full day trip and includes stops at three different beaches and also in a cave for swimming. At the beach of Palatia on Saria is a longer break with the opportunity to explore on foot some ruins from days gone by, when the island was inhabited.

People, who stay longer in Diafani and who are fond of hiking, have other options as well using the 'Captain Manolis'. On request Giorgos will stop at the church of Agia Ekaterini on the northern tip of Karpathos, from where a very beautiful, but long and strenuous path brings one back to Diafani. More popular is the 4-hours-walk from the beach of Japló on Saria to Palatia, where the boat is moored. Knowing that the 'Captain Manolis' regularly goes from here, before heading back, to the lovely little beach of Alimounda further north, I informed Giorgos that I will walk this part as well. Something which is absolutely not recommended, since there is no path anymore and one has to go over cliffs with little orientation. But I enjoyed it.

Giorgos, besides going with his boat into a small cave also does some spectacular maneuvering around some high and steep cliffs in the water. And on the way back he will throw out a fishing-line and regularly catch some bonitos or European barracudas, which then might get grilled for some of his guests in Diafani.

Giorgos definitely does a great tour and one has to admire the was he has his boat under control. All this he knows and he will tell you so himself, when you meet him in the evening in one of the local cafés or taverns.
