The first surprise that we had on arrival is that the property is just as the photographs portray it. The finish is a really high standard and the whole place is really well equipped, spotlessly clean and well maintained. The whole place is spacious, we highly recommend it.
The village was really quiet when we visited, but April is out of season so that's to be expected. We were met at the door by the key holder, who lives opposite, and were shown around briefly. Parking is on the street just around the corner, but we never had an issue getting pretty close to the property.
There are four restaurants/bars of varying price & quality in the village (although Restaurant Hao didn't open while we were there). There's a cafe and a few shops too. They're all along the main road so easy to find. You can find all the basics you need in the village and the prices aren't bad either. We did pick up things from the larger supermarkets when we were out and about though.
The village is an ideal base for walkers and cyclists, or for those wanting to escape the crush at the bottom of the mountain. Be aware that the roads are very narrow and incredibly twisty, not for the feint hearted. Getting anywhere does take a remarkable amount of time. The scenery is worth it though, although the driver will need to stop before they look at it.
One word of caution though: there is a very nice bakery next door to the property. On the up side this means it's easy to pick up fresh bread and pastries every morning without a problem. On the down side it does mean that light sleepers might be disturbed early in the morning as the activity starts. I have to say it didn't bother us at all.
We stayed at this perfect villa in the most beautiful and friendly place for 10 days, our only complaint was that we didnt book longer.
Santa Lucia, although a small town located high in the mountains, has everything you need for a restful and relaxing stay.
Staying in a private villa is perfect as there are three supermarkets within a five minute walk of the property which have everything you would need for the stay. There are a few restaurants and pubs / cafes within a short walk also (Strongly recommend El Mirador de Santa Lucia, beautiful restaurant with stunning views and first class food and service) There is also a bakery next to the property which has everything you could possibly think of for fresh breakfast / treats / breads and is a must try!
Everyone we encountered in the village was so nice and friendly and although not many spoke English they were happy to help and even happier when we tried a little Spanish - we didnt find this an issue at all.
Lastly, the villa. . .its hard to put in only a few words how amazing it was. Exceptionally spacious and clean with absolutely everything you need for your stay - all cleaning and day to day products for both inside and outside the property are provided (from dishwasher tablets to fabric conditioner to pool net etc). No expense has been spared in upgrading the property with all appliances of the highest spec and the layout being perfect - they seem to have thought of everything from the beautiful spacious en-suite bedroom with amazing views from its balcony to the cosy lounge, to the large, bright fully equipped kitchen not to mention the perfectly private garden and fantastic pool (which is a lot bigger than we thought it would be) with handy shower room beside it. We cannot recommend both the property and the village highly enough and will definitely be returning.
