We stayed here in April but overlooked writing a review!
We were given a warm welcome by the lovely owner and a welcome hamper and flowers were waiting.
Even at this time of year it was idylic. The summer house at end of garden was a great addition, as when the weather was chilly we could still enjoy the outdoors and the river at the bottom of the garden. We even managed to have a bbq - everything was provide for this but we had taken our own!
The cottage had every item you could ever need and was spotless! A real home from home
Would definitly recommend and pity we came before the weather got so hot, as this would have been the icing on the cake.
River Bank Cottage is lovely - very comfortable with everything you may need. Tracy and Robert have made this into the perfect holiday home and the extra touches, such as the welcome hamper, made it feel special. We spent every evening sitting by the river watching the wildlife - it was so peaceful and relaxing.
The village itself is lovely and peaceful with a few shops and places to eat and it is well connected to the local area by bus and train.
Thank you both for your help at the end of the holiday - we made it home safely in our hire car and we all agree that, even with our car problems, it was still a great holiday.
The river at the end of the garden was what made us book this cottage, but we got so much more than that - a perfect home from home with everything you could want and all needs catered for. Would definitely recommend.
The location is perfect for reaching so many beautiful places - Whitby, Saltburn, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend, Scarbro’ and Eden Camp. The cottage is beautiful and extremely well equipped. There is enough crockery, cutlery, glasses and pans to service a battalion!! The location is perfect - just loved listening to the steam trains passing the bottom of the garden. Our only complaint - we didn’t catch sight of the kingfisher!!! Thank you for a lovely break Tracy!!!
We recently spent a week at River Bank Cottage, and enjoyed every minute. There is little to be said about the property that has not been said many times, so I won’t repeat the praises, but simply add a couple of points.
Tracy leaves a welcoming hamper of goodies to start you off. Apart from some ‘luxuries’, this also includes bread, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, etc., so there is no need to bring these with you. As it was our wedding anniversary whilst we were there, Tracy also left us a card and a bunch of roses, which was a nice touch.
Some reviews claim that the Wi-Fi was poor. We found it perfectly adequate to stream TV on 2 separate IPads at the same time with no problems.
The North York Moors Railway runs nearby with steam trains. If you want to photograph these, walk to Sleights station, 2 minutes from the cottage. Sleights also has a Spar shop, baker, butcher, chip shop and pub.
We did not see the otter or kingfisher, probably because the river was very murky following heavy rain, but the seating area down by the river was very pleasant.
A thoroughly enjoyable week, which I would certainly repeat.
