My husband and I booked Pijei based on its reviews and location. We were not disappointed. Marco, the owner, was very attentive to our needs. We didn't understand the menu so opted for the 6 course taster menu. Marco accompanied every course with a wine he thought most appropriate. Each course got better and better. We felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Andrea, the chef and Marco's brother, came out after dinner to chat to us.

This restaurant is very cosy and we liked that intimacy. Marco advised us they are opening a larger restaurant nearby. We will definitely be visiting next time we are in Salo.

Came for a drink at this welcoming wine bar which is also a restaurant. We sat on the bar as we really came after dinner, so it was only for a drink but it looks like the food here is very good as well as the wine, and from what we saw was served in very nice dishes. The wine was excellent, I asked for a dry red wine and the barman offered me a 90 years old wine !!!! which was really good. I can summarize this visit as a very interesting and wonderful experience while visiting this gorgeous side of Garda lake. Really recommended for romantic couples like us

We were initially looking for somewhere to taste good local wines and we lucked into finding this gem of a very specialised wine and food bar where the sommelier qualified bar tender and his outstanding chef and brother mesmerise you with heavenly wine and food. They have great wines from outside Italy as well but were in seventh heaven with the white and sparkling local Lugana wines. We were served as a taster with the wine, scrumptious olive oil drizzled bread with a mortadella from Bologna that was to die for. We tried some local and tuscan red wine which blew our minds away and we craved for more so we stayed for an evening meal. We decided to remain with meats and cheese mainly from the Lombardia region even though the food menu had much to tempt us via the menu and via the exquisite food which we saw being served to the other clearly very happy guests. It's small and intimate, the sommelier is supremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines and the food.

The people running this little gem are passionate about their food and wine which makes a visit all the more worthwhile.

Returned again in June, on a quite Sunday Evening, yes the high standard is still there, from the recommendation of Wines from Marco, to the great food from Andrea in the kitchen.
I understand they hope to move soon to new premises, with outdoor seating, so I hope the guys have continued success, and hope to return soon. Ciao Bella

This is a cool and modern antithesis to the old tratoria's in city/village centers.
A couple of brothers run this modern and small place on the outskirts of salo', one serves you and picks your wine while explaining grape varieties and makers, the other cooks a modern and semi molecular take on old local classic dishes. And inorder to compete its not that expensive.
Do yourself a favor and go there, we should encourage these guy! Great experience.
