We have been here a few times now and have never been disappointed with the hotel , the managers or the staff and I’ve read a few of the negative reviews and I’m not sure if they have come on holiday with intentions to complain or just arnt happy in general.
This hotel is taking Covid very serious as you would expect but you can still have a great holiday to the point I have just extended my 14 night stay to 17 nights!
The breakfast is buffet style and outstanding,they even do a Sunday dinner with roast potatoes,Yorkshire pudding and all the meats you’d expect and tastes amazing.
Well done Joanne and your team and keep up the good work.

I’m not sure where to begin, clearly COVID 19 has had a huge impact globally and for sure allowances need to be made, however, there are some serious issues here, the staff totally lack any management or direction, are totally dis-engaged and all round unhappy.
Let me give you some detail: return to your room at 5 pm and still unclean, cleaners started our floor at 09:00 at room 307 and at 17:00 not even started at room 316…………9 rooms, knocked with no actual bathrooms towels, beach towels were offered and asked if we actually wanted bathroom towels!……………..this is a daily ritual.
Then breakfast, if you’re travelling alone, coffee is fine, but if you are a family or more, you’ll be left feeling like you’re begging for more from dis-engaged staff.
Barbados is an amazing location and the people are incredible, outside the Colony Club, there, the staff are so so unhappy and management are clearly responsible………………the question is always “is this market? Or management” the answer, without any doubt whatsoever is “MANAGEMENT”

Room tip: The beach is amazing, the staff serving there are incredible, but for all restaurant requirements, my advice is go elsewhere, anywhere else.

I completely agree with a previous reviewer - Nick who posted this month . Its ok -beautiful gardens , amazing beach and the potential to be a step ahead . That is until you visit the 2 equally priced hotels next door - coral reef and sandpiper . The colony club is tired , old plastic/whicker chairs and plastic seating in the restaurant . No creature comforts - purely functional . This all works until you go next door and relax on cushions, receive leather bound menus ( not photocopy) and receive attentive service, not functional . It sounds like I'm being an over fussy snob ( and maybe I am ) but the best way of putting it is that we ate twice in the colony club and 14 times elsewhere . Same price -different standard . My only conclusion is that maybe being owned by multi national Marriot does them no favours compared to all the comparable " family owned " hotels and restaurants nearby . We all know that post covid hospitality is suffering , but the competition has refurnished and rearmed - leaving the colony club behind . In my opinion !

We visited here for an evening meal which started at 20:00 and our taxi was due to collect us at 22:00. We assumed two hours would be plenty of time, but unfortunately were proved wrong.
We were shown our seats and given the menus promptly. After about twenty minutes we were asked if we were ready to order food - this before we had been offered drinks. We placed our order, and still no suggestion of drinks. In the end, we had to flag a server down to ask for some.
Our appetisers were given to us just before 21:00 and were delicious. No offer of a second drink though despite our glasses both being empty. We again had to flag someone down to ask them.
Our main course was also delicious, and honestly I cannot fault the food. The menu was varied and we were both impressed with our meals.
We were offered dessert at about 21:40 so were aware that time was ticking on. We were told that all options were out, and the only thing they had to offer us was ice-cream. We both accepted and the waiting began again. By the time it arrived, it was 22:00 and our taxi was waiting so we had to forgo this part of the meal.
Overall, we were hugely impressed with the food we ate and the setting is spectacular. Unfortunately the service was somewhat lacking: two hours for two courses and two drinks is not acceptable no matter how friendly the staff were.

Room tip: Book an early meal so that they don’t run out of desert.

Paradise found in Barbados. Thank you to the wonderful welcome from all the professional and helpful staff at the hotel who have made our trip so enjoyable.

The hotel is positioned in a beautiful spot on the West Coast. We’ve really enjoyed the complimentary water sports with expert tuition including paddle boarding and water ski-ing. Swimming with turtles and snorkelling on the nearby reef were a highlight of the trip. Spotting monkeys and hummingbirds in the beautiful gardens - also amazing.

The food is excellent and some complimentary snacks are served by the pool.

There is lots to see and do locally if you are looking for a change of scenery.

Special thanks to the Marriott Elite care team - we will return.
