An overall great vacation on Grand Anse Beach

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Feb 2024
Check in was easy. 15 minutes and we were done. Like that there is juice and cucumber water for guests there as well. Interesting note, we only saw the Juice offered on Monday as we kept looking for it to get more 😅

Something to remember: All prices on the resort are in Eastern Caribbean Dollars, NOT USD. EC Dollars are basically 1/3 of a USD (I think it is 0.35). This is why prices seem high. Just divide by 3 and you'll have a good idea how much things cost👍🏼

The room is nice although there are some minor signs of wear and tear on some of the wood furniture, nothing major though. The room was clean and moderately updated. The beds were comfortable. The sliding doors to the closet were hard to open and close...kind of wonky, but again, not a serious deal. The bathroom has plenty of towels and bath amenities. No tub, tiled shower only. Hot (ours got H O T!) and cold water worked fine in the faucet. Flushing the toilet, you need to hold the flusher down until everything goes down.

Dinner at the sunset bar on our first night was good. After finding a seat, a waitress came over after a few minutes with menus. Food took about 30 minutes after we ordered. I understand it is Caribbean time on Grenada so I figured it would be a little bit of time. We all liked our food, Bacon cheeseburger, chana masala, kids hot dog, and fries. The chana was the best.

Tradewinds Breakfast Buffet:

We were seated promptly. Sharon came to our table to offer coffee/tea. The buffet has lots of options, both 'Ametican' and Caribbean. Nutmeg syrup! Omelet station!

The waterfalls wraparound pool is great. A lady came to ask if we wanted drinks. Towel lady was pleasant (not like other reviews). Hot (more like warm) tub atop the waterfall is nice with a great view of the pool and gardens.

Room service took about 30 minutes for lunch on our second day and the food was still hot/warm for us.

Wednesday morning I headed to reception to get my cab to Grenada Golf Club. I asked for one the previous night to be available at 8 AM. There wasn't one available as ms there were a lot of people leaving to do different things that morning. Oh well, not a big deal. I asked for a cab to the golf club and one arrived within 10 minutes.

This afternoon, we finally made it to the beach right outside the hotel. Thankfully, it was easy to find loungers and bring them over the fence right under a sea grape tree so we were nice and shaded for laying out. The beach is public so locals may come by to ask for hair braiding or to buy jewelry but a simple no thank you and they'll be on their way. No high-pressure situations. The beach and water are fantastic, light waves and an amazing view. the multiple sea grape trees along the beach make umbrellas less than absolutely necessary. That's a win for sure!

Thursday we got to breakfast around 9:00 AM. I strongly suggest getting to the breakfast buffet earlier rather than later. The later it is, the more crowded the buffet is, the longer the lines get, and the servers get a bit overwhelmed, leading to more delays in service. Mind you, the delays aren't too bad, I just noticed a delay from when we arrived around 7 or 8 AM earlier in the week, and when we arrived at 9:00 AM. On the bright side, there were cinnamon buns and Caillou (Caribbean greens) today at the buffet! I LOVE CAILLOU ❤️

Our daughter was a bit sickie today so we didn't do a lot. My son and I walked around the the grounds, which are very pretty and well-maintained. We had room service for lunch and dinner. The food again, took around 30 minutes each time.

Overall Impression: The Radisson Grenada Beach Resort is a nice place to stay. It is not a 4 star property, but is a solid 3 star in my opinion. The food is absolutely not as bad as some reviews make it out to be. There are varied things to eat and nothing that we had this week was inedible. All of our interactions with staff members, from front desk, to housekeeping, to landscaping, to wait staff were positive. This is a Caribbean island so 'island time' is a real thing, but it never felt like it impacted out vacation experience. All in all we had a nice vacation and are pleased with the service we received at the Radisson Grenada Beach Resort and would consider staying there again:)

Excursion:

We did do a Sunset Champagne 3-Hour Cruise with Corsair Sailing Charters and Experiences. Let me tell you, they have great reviews and ratings for a reason. They sail from the pier right by the Radisson.... it is literally a four-minute walk from the Radisson on the beach. A small boat will ferry you to the sailing ship. The ship has four awesome dogs on board👍🏼 Drinks are included (beer, wine, liquor) as is a Champagne toast at sunset. The ship takes you up and down the western coast of the island. The crew are friendly, the included appetizers are varied and delicious. The sunset is magnificant! This was easily a highlight of our trip to Grenada.

Some Assorted notes:

The ice maker in our building did not work, but we found one in another building close to us.

There isn't an ATM on site, but there is a bank right across the street.

The grounds are gorgeous for the most part and are all maintained.

There are both British and American outlets in the rooms, so you don't need to bring an adapter if you are from the States.

Our building didn't have an elevator, so if you have mobility issues, make sure you get a 1st floor room.

One thing I'll say, a friendly smile and demeanor will go a long way toward people being helpful. I've seen a lot of reviews saying everyone is miserable or surly. We haven't found that to be the case at all. People may not be falling all over themselves to help your every whim, every time to come into sight, but every interaction we have had was positive.

If you want to relax, this is the place for you. You are a footstep away from the beach!

Service was good from the front desk to housekeeping to the wait and bar staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Good water pressure.

Only suggestions I have is if staff could help set up the lounge chairs on the beach. Additionally they didn’t have consistent service at the beach for food and drink service. Also the to go cups are very flimsy and well you could burn yourself.

The rooms need to be updated a bit. There were holes in the curtains.

These are small details but ones that keep from giving a higher rating based other hotel stays.

Spent the first part of our Grenada vacation at the Radisson and couldn’t have been happier! Phenomenal location-my teen kids loved nighttime dips in the pools, tons of breakfast options, and walking a few steps to the most beautiful beach ever!

Venturing off the resort for island touring was effortless and consistently memorable, thanks to Charmaine at Insight Tourism Grenada. She’s based in the reception area. She is thoughtful, SO helpful, and knows everything about the island. Helped me to arrange a superb bunch of tours, everything from snorkeling with my kids, to a sightseeing/food tour into the mountains, to a hike up Mt QuaQua and a waterfall!

A relaxing and idyllic home base, and wonderfully curated tours-highly recommend on all fronts!

Room tip: Rooms are a little basic but you can’t beat the location right on Grand Anse beach.

Not worth the money.
The price is not right. Breakfast is free but looks like they came from a can.
Spend your money to other Caribbean island.
Our room had this very noisy air conditioner unit. I didn’t have the energy to complain about it because everything is just not a comfortable place.

The place is sooo clean .... the staff is amazing I highly recommend.
Right on the most beautiful beach.
Thee are many things to do at this resort, water activities, even play pool or bathe in the pool, these even lawn tennis. I normally don't visit a country twice but I might make an exception with this amazing place. There's 3 resturants with a wide variety if food and drinks.
My family and I had An amazing time

Room tip: The pool is amazing 👏

This hotel has vibe of late 80s - which is quite okay if you expect this before booking and of course up to certain conditions only. Lets start with advantages: It boasts with the best tropical hotel garden you can find in Grand Anse and is situated in amazing beach location. Everyone from guests that I talked to agreed they return here just beause of beach that has no competion in whole Caribbean (really true)! If you choose to stay here, your vacation will be probably just all about this. Because food was less than mediocre, almost inedible. Many locals come here for breakfast which I can't wrap my head around - do not expect any sort of bread apart from toast! Ham/cheese not appetizing at all and cakes were sometimes served raw. Dinner priced for 75 ECD brought me to memories of high school canteen. Once per week they organise grill/barbecue evening, this I can recommend at least and portions are big. Rooms were clean and comfortable with smart air conditioning, but bathroom definitely needs refurbishment of 21st century. Brown water was running from the tap one day and shower was broken. Special "in-room sport activity" was daily made for me - opening/closing balcon doors was pain in the neck and needed hell of force. Staff was nice, but not quite memorable (thank you to waitress Kelly, she was kind). The smarter the girls in hotel area look the more problems with their attitude may arise. Towel lady is very sour and should change her behaviour to guests. Maybe it is everywhere in Caribbean but I do not pay $ to see acid looks when I ask simple question. Entertainment was average, I acknowledge they tried at least.
The BIGGEST PROBLEM apart from food is THEFT from beach area. Thank god my stuff was insured - I lost prescription sunglasses and security guards that patrol beach area claim they cannot help anyone even in case of harassment as this is management decision. For this matter I am not keen to return back. I can forgive all points above and still enjoy my vacation but when you experience such upsetting line of events you regret decision of travelling from Czech Republic to Grenada.
Overall, it is hard to give rating - just expect very comfy and clean bed + room but do not expect delicious food of any sort.
