Grenada’s Private Paradise!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 May 2023via mobile
Nestled beautifully on the Grande Ange beach in Grenada a private paradise awaits you, This resort truly understands the meaning of hospitality and luxury. The hotel staff makes you feel like you are part of a family. And the rooms are so comfortable and beautifully designed that enhance the comfort of your stay.

We had the pleasure of staying 6 days and got to experience so many beautiful dishes, breakfast selections, and experiences inside and outside of the resort. The food was so delicious and every dish was beautifully

1 thing I believe that really sets Spice Island Beach apart from the other resorts on the island which I have experienced is their culinary selection and the placement of the resort on one of the critically acclaimed beaches on the island.

Aside from leisure and lounging around the resort. We asked the hotel if they could arrange for us an Island tour which was about 3-4 hours long in a very nice spacious air-conditioned van. We learned about the history and culture of Grenada, the spices, the farmers and so much more. I highly recommend

On arriving at the Spice Island Beach Resort after a long flight we were blown away by the beautiful views through reception towards the gorgeous Grand Anse beach . We were greeted by the staff and given cold towels and a delicious cocktail before checking in to our room . Our room , a pool villa, was spacious, nicely furnished with all amenities including a free mini bar , Molten Brown toiletries , high quality linen and fantastic room service twice a day . The wonderful Grand Anse beach was a few strides from our room with well appointed beds and umbrellas, beautiful white sand and crystal clear warm sea. The excellent bar situated by a beautiful pool provided high quality alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks all day including service to the beach . The food at Spice Island was exceptional , a large choice every mealtime . The 5 course dinner each night provided good quality wine, ever changing menu and good entertainment on several evenings. The Friday night steel band at the Caribbean buffet must not be missed. But the most exceptional aspect of the Spice Island are the staff . They all provided the highest quality service at all times , with a warm and friendly approach and no request was ever too much trouble for them. We enjoyed chatting each day with the waitresses/waiters, the bar staff , the room staff, the gardeners and Fabian, the guest services manager, whose smile and infectious laugh lit up our days . We cannot recommend the Spice Island Resort Hotel highly enough for a relaxing, welcoming and enjoyable stay. We know we will return again.

Beautiful luxurious hotel on the Grand Anse beach less than 10 mins from the airport. Food was just amazing, the staff also.

Great laid back entertainment most nights but this isn’t a party resort !

The hotel gardens were kept to virtual perfection.

Grenada is very safe compared to some Caribbean destinations and that was a big attraction to us . We had no problems walking out along the beach or elsewhere.

We booked a tour with Mandoo through the hotel , seems he is very well known locally and respected. He is very informative and passionate about Grenada , I was surprised to hear there is no recycling in place on the Island and everything goes to landfill !! Mandoo is definitely recommended.

We went on a sunset cruise via Virgin which was great.

Only drawback is the resort is not adults only. There was an issue in / around the pool for a few days which was probably a rare occurrence .

The swimming pool and area was a little small but I understand the area / decking around the pool is to be made larger as part of some planned works when the hotel is closed in a few months time .

Overall a memorable stay.

My wife ran the Boston Marathon…. For those who know her Six Major, Abbotts Medal Awarded. I thought it would be good to take a break. Wow what a Hotel!! Great location, Rooms, food and service. A must do location. The staff to me really elevated Spice Island from any other Caribbean Hotel that we have stayed at, incredibly attentive, friendly and they really want to ensure that you enjoy your visit.
For me this is a must visit Hotel in the Caribbean. For A stay that you will not forget. Quite outstanding. I will be returning.

Room tip: The food is perfect, breakfast, lunch and evening meal!! Please ensure you do a little exercise throughout the day!

We had a lovely stay, weather was fab, the sea was great to swim in and the beach was fantastic.

Food we could not fault, other than we ate to much! Restaurant and bar staff were all exceptional.

We were fortunate enough to receive a room upgrade, our pool suite was clean, well appointed and very comfortable.

The only downside to us was it was supposed to be a relaxing holiday and we found that there were too many children. The pool area is not big and when you have children jumping in and out, throwing balls around and screaming, it's difficult to chill out. Other hotels we have stayed in with children have had rules around the pool area and most have separate pools for children. I think if balls need to be played with they should do so on the massive beach where they can not disturb anyone and make as much noise as they want. We did think we were outside of school holidays, but apparently it was spring break in the US! We did meet other guests who were returners and had not experienced as many children on previous visits.

We stayed in a Sea Grape suite on the beach which was absolutely fabulous. Couldn’t ask for more from the room. The service throughout was top notch from all the staff that we encountered during our stay. Special mention to Shawna and Lyndonna in the bar, and Katrina in the restaurant. The food was excellent, although probably too much for us in the evenings, but it wasn’t a problem to skip a course if you wanted. There is also an option to dine in the other restaurant if you don’t want the more formal dining. The hotel provided some great musicians and singers in the evenings, but unfortunately too few guests stayed up to appreciate them! We didn’t use the pool much as we prefer to be on the beach. The pool itself is quite deep - 4 to 6 feet depth - good for swimming round. The whole resort is extremely well maintained throughout and very clean and tidy. This is definitely a hotel for relaxation and chilling out alongside eating and drinking!
The only downside was the lunchtime service. We waited 20-30 minutes to receive food or drink after ordering on more than one occasion. Very frustrating when you have ordered a salad and see others who ordered after you being served first!
Overall, a good holiday, although a tad expensive!

Room tip: First hotel in the Caribbean that provided shower gel!
