We decided to park at the main gates and take the beautiful mile walk to the Abbey. Lots of woodland trails wind their way through the trees. The walk takes a steady twenty minutes and is well worth the effort if you are able. The abbey & grounds are lovely with well manicured gardens. The courtyard to the cafe is a little tired and could be made a lot better. Saying that the staff are lovely as is the coffee they serve at a reasonable price. The Japanese garden is beautiful with lots of paths to explore. Newstead Abbey is a little gem and a place we always enjoy visiting. Best in the week when it’s not so busy.
