We've visited once before but the house wasn't open at that time due to maintenance/repairs. That didn't matter, the grounds are so beautiful that they enchanted us for a good couple of hours. The tea is good too :)
On this visit, we specifically went to have a look around the Abbey, and it didn't disappoint. The volunteers were all very friendly and knowledgeable, and if they didn't know an answer they'd find out.
We paid £10 pp for entry to the house. Parking and access to the beautiful grounds is currently £6 per car.

We visited in July as a day out on our holiday.
This is a really beautiful place, steeped in history.
The grounds are visually stunning and loads of little secret gardens and walled outdoor spaces.
There is a little play area for children and we enjoyed some time there.
We also had a little splash in the river near the waterfall. The water is really shallow and the children loved splashing around on a hot day.
The café was really lovely and the ice cream was gorgeous.
I will be returning as I felt I didn't explore half as much as we could have.
Well worth a visit.

Had a wonderful visit, historically important and for all lovers of Lord Byrons works and literature a must. Newstead always has a ghostly feel about it atmospheric and fascinating the grounds and the setting in the dukeries are beautiful I can't recommend enough, stayed over and ate nearby a wonderful couple of days will visit again. And have visited many times in the past as I was Butler to lord Savile once of nearby Rufford Abbey, made many visits here and to wellbeck and Rufford over the years a pleasure to be back again after so many years .

Right on my doorstop, we often go to Newstead Abbey - running or walking - it is a beautiful part of the world. Highly recommend the gardens for an exploration, they are truly beautiful and so well managed. The house is also well worth a visit. The last time we did this (February 2020) the volunteers were just absolutely amazing - sharing knowledge, stories, answering questions. I personally could have spent all day listening and learning :-) It's an amazing bit of history - ask about the ghosts :-)

The little coffee shop is great for snacks too - picking up a coffee and a local sausage roll, just really lovely.
