The room and bathroom were fairly large and the beds comfortable. The hotel has an elevator and street parking was nearby. However, there were spiderwebs all over the walk up to the room. The sink and shower did drain exceedingly slow. The exposed plumbing looked haphazard. The room had dust on the floor and looked as if it had not been swept for a longer time. One wonders about health risks. Maybe a visit from the local health department might help in this regard. The friendly person at the reception told us that they had "a lot of spiders this year." After we had commented on the spiderwebs, he took a broom and started cleaning the entrance to the hotel but did not turn his attention to the walk up to our room. One has to add that the whole village looked rather dirty and disheveled with many buildings in obvious decay. One hopes that this village will get some support to improve.

Delightful memory foam mattress. We stayed on the top floor overlooking the breathtakingly charming town square. I imagine any of the rooms' views would please. It was late July and while air conditioning would have been nice, we were able to manage without. You should Park just outside the city wall/center unless you're accustomed to very tight quarters or drive and very small vehicle. It's a easy, short 2 minute walk at most.

Room Tip: Top floor facing the city square might be a bit loud for weekend nights but during the week, it's incredibly charming.

Looking for an overnight stay at 7.00pm we chanced upon this village and drove our 1969 roadster into the arcaded centre - to find this amazing hotel. A mobile phone gained us access to the owner, who with no booked guests was out for the evening, but instructed us to take the key to room one and settle ourselves in. The owner of the restaurant opposite was able to direct us to the undercover parking at the rear of the hotel.
A large cool reception area led through to an inner bedroom with a huge bed and beyond a modern bathroom with all mod cons. Sadly there was no hot water and with no staff on hand no way round that, but I'm sure that the cold shower did me good. Dinner in the arcaded square was a delight and we were greeted when the owner finally returned from his dinner out! Morning coffee was taken in the quiet cool courtyard garden behind the hotel. We are still talking about this wonderful historic stay.

Room Tip: Every room is different but there is a lift to the upper floors. Ground floor rooms look out into the rear gardens.

We stayed for one night at the Hotel Des Consuls. The village is absolutely lovely and we received a warm welcome at the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the breakfast was relaxing and varied. I left something in the room and didn't realise until after we had left. The owner was kind enough to post it on to me and demonstrated a personal touch that was very welcome.

This is a "find" - great hotel in a lovely village. Hosts were so helpful and very flexible with our changing dates. The room had all we needed. Bonus is the breakfast table and the preserves. Recommend this hotel highly.
