The food at Hotel Sandplacken is very nice after a long walk in Hochtaunus. Especially in summer this is our favorite place to end up at after a good hike, so we come here several times a month. Whether it is a Wiener Schnitzel or a Romanian specialty, the quality and quantity of food is good. Service is friendly and quick. The only small thing I really do not like is the fact that people are allowed to smoke everywhere in the beer garden -and people do! - so 4 out of 5 times we sit at a table next to someone who smokes.

We didn't stay at the hotel, we just stopped at the restaurant. I found the food amazing and the desserts were also good. The waitress was friendly and helpful. I think it's worth visiting, if you like Romanian cuisine or want to try it, especially during summer, when it's nice to stay outside.

I stayed here in September with my husband on the last night of a week long trip round Europe. We arrived later than planned after getting stuck in traffic and were keen to get into Frankfurt town centre before everywhere closed. Unfortunately the owner had a bit of an unusual sense of humor and started check in by telling me we couldn't check in and asking if my husband was my brother! His greeting was so unusual I had to ask if he even worked there. He also wanted payment as soon as we arrived not on checking out as most places tend to do.
After this delay and driving the the subway station a few miles down the road by the time we got to town most places were closed, I did try and explain this but I don't think he understood me.
The room was recently renovated, in fact the whole 1st floor was closed being renovated. This didn't effect us there was no noise but there is no lift so if you have mobility issues it may have been a problem. Also the owner didn't offer to help carry bags to the room but it was only a 2 star hotel so I wouldn't necessarily expect them to. But bearing in mind one floor was closed so it was 2 flights up it might have been nice to offer. The room was a very good size and clean. The bathroom was ensuite but had the strangest shower curtain I have ever seen (it was a roller blind attached to the roof- see my photos).
On checking out the downstairs bar area had no lights on and the owner appeared out of the darkness which was a little creepy. But he did say thanks have a nice trip.
Overall I think this hotel is ok value for a 2 star and maybe there was a language barrier but after a long journey I would prefer an easy quick check in.

This is the third time we have used this hotel as our first stop on a road trip to Croatia. Great hosts and good evening meals. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Lovely area in the forest but within easy access to the city. Breakfast could be better.
