Two couples traveling. The beginning of our own Tour of Italy. Stopped in this beautiful medieval town, and came upon this fantastic and memorable restaurant. We started with local wine, and starters. Fresh cod on mashed potatoes-both which melted in your mouth. Shelled nice size prawns over green beans. oh so tasty. Monkfish, scallops...shall I go on. It was the 1st of our best meals. Complimentary cookies. oh so good. I will travel back to Italy and make it a point of eating there again. You are transcended! Walla!

Best steak I have ever had. Period. The Risotto is also outstanding. Beautiful alfresco dining as well. Try the local wine (sparkling red).

We had lunch here during a low season day, well-finish design even if lighting could be better. We ate a delicious "Culaccia" and home-made giardiniera, a baby onion omelette that was amazing, but the mixed typical cold cuts was absolutely not remarkable. then we had small portions of rice with radicchio, gnocchi and beans and finally crespelle, and those were excellent. We drank 2 bottles of marvelous sauvignon and a bottle of a local red wine, fine but not exceptional. Final price: 40€ per person, maybe a little bit too much.

Out of season Castell'arquato is a bit of a one horse town and very sleepy. We arrived late in the evening and the restaurant we had been recommended was closed. We found 'Maps' by chance - boy, were we lucky. The owner is an art collector so all the walls are covered in an amazing collection. Forget any low carb diet you might be on and tuck into the bread, all of it delicious. We both had risotto which was perfect. I went for the vitello and Mr M the pork. Both delicious. This is not a cheap restaurant but what they serve and the ambiance and decor makes is an amazing and wonderful dining experience.

Really enjoyed all the food at this lovely restaurant . We sat outside and the whole experience couldn't have been nicer. Prawn and fava bean warm salad, followed by turbot, then a strawberry and sabayon tart. Super
