We stayed one night in the main lodge. Linda, the owner was very welcoming and friendly and helpful. Our room was extremely spacious and very quiet. It was furnished in antique style in keeping with the villa itself - all polished wood floors, brass bedsteads and vintage ceramics. Although it was very cold overnight the heater in the room was extremely efficient and the bed was very comfortable with very warm covers.
The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate and there was plenty of hot water for our showers. The lounge and dining room downstairs were also very warm and comfortable with gas fires keeping the rooms very comfortable, and television, music, books & games were on offer
Breakfast of cereal, and fresh-cooked bacon, eggs, hash brown, mushroom and tomato was the best hotel breakfast I have eaten - just the right size and beautifully prepared.
The Lodge is very close to state highway 3 but set amongst rambling gardens and very quiet.
Only slight niggle is that I had trouble connecting to free broadband and it was very slow loading pages when I did manage to connect.

Thanks for your comments about your stay at Tairoa Lodge and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay and our sumptuous breakfast! Our apologies about the slow broadband, unfortunately Hawera had an issue with the fibre being down last week which seemed to put things out of sync. We've had the computer tech guys in this week, and it looks like everything is back up to speed again. Regards, Linda

We stayed in the gatehouse, which was a delightful character house in a peaceful garden setting. The beds and linen were luxurious and so comfortable. The service was wonderful, with personal touches. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

I booked one night at Tairoa,Lodge for my partner's special birthday. Within half an hour of our arrival he asked Linda whether we could stay another night. It was like being guests in a wonderful private home, wandering around the garden and being brought delicious food to enjoy outside on the veranda. Linda was the perfect host and made us feel so welcome.

Arrived for a overnight stay at the cottage. We were greeted by a beautifully maintained villa style cottage. All the refurbishment had been done sympatheticly and quality superb throughout.
Bottle of good quality white wine and generous continental breakfast materials topped off the visit.
Only hesitation (for the cottage) is the closeness of the function centre. Peace and quiet may be hard to achieve if a wedding reception is next door. Ask when booking, we were rewarded with splendid silence and maybe it's always like that.

Linda and Dennis hosted us for a beautiful 4 course meal. The food was prefect from the entree through to dessert. The service and food were both 5 star. As a vegetarian it is not often you go somewhere where there is more than one option. Dennis and Linda outdid themselves. Thank you for the wonderful evening. 10 out of 10
