“What a wonderful rural place to stay.”

Ash lodge is exactly as it looks in the photos and it's very, very clean. Clive and Judeth are very friendly as are their two terriers, horses and sheep. A complimentary bottle of wine and half a dozen fresh eggs awaited us on our arrival.

The lodge has a good sized decked balcony, overlooking the owners fields through the very tall fir trees, it would be very pleasant to sit there on a warm day. As of November 2014 the surrounding area has now been fenced to keep dogs and children in, however the landscaping is not quite finished and is still not useable as it is muddy. There is ample parking space for two cars to the side of the property.

The entrance to the lodge has a small hallway with coat and shoe storage located to the left in the boiler closet, which is very good for drying any wet coats and boots. You enter to the right into the main living areas, the colour scheme throughout is all very well co-ordinated and stylish. The kitchen to the front overlooks a barn and it's well equipped with an assortment of new pots and pans to cook with. Crockery is by Jasper Conran. Tea towels, hand towels, Fairy liquid, dishcloth and dishwasher tablets were all provided.
The lounge contains a 42 inch TV, DVD player and a small assortment of DVDs along with reading books and an assortment of board games (if you have the time). The two two seater sofas are also very comfortable.
Both bedrooms are identical with two three foot single beds, which when zipped together made a large king sized bed
that was so comfy, with very good quality bedding. There is loads of storage space in the bedrooms for clothes and hanging space, with a dozen hangers provided.
The bathroom is also very modern with a nice tiled shower area and matching tiled floors with good quality bath sheets and hand towels provided. The shower isn't very powerful but the water is hot all the time. There are windows and blinds in every room for fresh air fanatics.
A small copse is located alongside the free range chicken coop for early morning and late night toileting trips for doggies which is only a few feet from the door. Responsible owners have picked up which leaves it clean for the next walkers.

Exmoor is on the doorstep with great walks. Minehead and Lynmouth are a short drive away. Locally, Wimbleball Lake Park is worth a visit. There is a pub about a mile down the road but the nearest shops are in Wiveliscombe about 5 miles away. There is also a bridleway through the owners fields which leads down to a small stream and makes for a pleasant walk. Wellies are needed if you want to cross the ford to walk on the other side.

The lodge does not have WiFi but that said we couldn't fault it. We would highly recommend this property.

“Fantastic, we should have booked for longer!”

This is one of two cabins on a farm in the heart of the somerset countryside. tranquil doesn't even begin to say it. The accommodation is brand new and to a really high standard - everything has been thought of! Our cabin was really warm and cosy and the bed was really comfortable, There is a large deck which would be lovely in the summer.
We'll definitely be back!

“A perfect retreat from a busy life!”
Reviewed 12 February 2014 for a stay in February 2014

We booked this short break in order to recharge our batteries after a very hectic and exhausting few months....and we're glad we did! The lodge was very tastefully decorated and was extremely peaceful (despite the rain and howling winds!). Unfortunately, we didn't get to appreciate much of the surroundings due to the weather, but we came away feeling refreshed after some much needed sleep and rest. The owners were very welcoming (especially the puppy!) and we hope to visit again!!
